I CREATED THE EFILE ON A RETURN WITH ED CREDIT AND RECEIVED NO MESSAGE THAT THE FORM WASNT APPROVED. IS ED CREDIT ABLE TO BE EFILED TODAY? I DIDNT NOTICE IT IN MY UPDATES. BUT SURE WOULD LIKE TO GET SOME OF THESE RETURNS DONE THAT HAVE BEEN WAITING. SUE

What would be the worse that can happen? Get rejected? I would try it. In fact I have a couple of them pending. I will be in he office soon to try them. Thanks, Sue!!

ATTN: Software Developers, Return Transmitters, State Taxing Authorities and

Authorized IRS e-file Providers/EROs

This is a reminder that Individual Electronic Filing will begin accepting

Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) forms on February 11, 2008. These forms will

be processed in the 6:00 PM local drain. You may begin transmitting the

following forms after your 11:00 AM local drain.

* Form 8863, Education Credits

* Form 5695, Residential Energy Credits

* Schedule 2, Form 1040A, Child and Dependent Care Expenses for Form 1040A

Filers

* Form 8396, Mortgage Interest Credit and

* Form 8859, District of Columbia First-Time Homebuyer Credit

The expected increase in volume may result in an 11 to 12 hour delay for

acknowledgment files, particularly during the first few days when the IRS

will begin accepting the AMT impacted tax returns. If you experience a

delay in receiving your acknowledgment files, we appreciate your patience

and request that you allow at least 48 hours to receive your acknowledgment

files prior to contacting the IRS e-Help desk.

Are you using the 8917 for line 34 or the 8863 for line 49? It makes a difference. I would not try it until the date and time that the IRS says they will be accepting it.
