He wants me to file his NY return but it appears as though I need a NYTPRIN...is that true? How many hoops must I jump through to do this one return? FDNY Posted February 9, 2016 Report Share Posted February 9, 2016 Not sure about code 09, but if you call NY at 518 457 1929 they'll be able to assit you. jklcpa Posted February 10, 2016 Report Share Posted February 10, 2016 JB, since you are not a CPA or EA, my understanding (in general) is that you have to register and get the NYTPRIN, but since you didn't prepare any NY returns last year and will only prepare the one return this year, then you don't have to pay the fee. Janitor Bob Posted February 10, 2016 Author Report Share Posted February 10, 2016 I registered and obtained my NYTPRIN.....my registration got "locked up/lost"..had to call the department, get transferred several times...wait on hold for what seemed like forever...but it's done.
