Randall
Would an in home healthcare worker be considered a household employee? If not, an individual would not be required to issue a 1099, right?
grandmabee
I think so yes, I issue w-2 to my clients who have IN home healthcare worker.
Medlin Software, Dennis
Could depend. For instance, CA IHHS "workers" can have tax free income, or it can be taxed. The agency (county if IIRC) issues the W2, the client does not. It is tax free (not reported as income) if the caregiver resides in the same place as the client, such as a parent caring for a child, or a child caring for a parent.
Randall
Thanks. That's what I told the client (would be household employee) but wanted to double check. I told client it would be easier to go thru a company who provided the service and not just a particular individual.
Medlin Software, Dennis
And see if their county offers IHHS... as it is no cost to the client if approved.
