BulldogTom
I just got off the phone with the IRS. Form 8582 is "on hold" and not expected to be released until "mid February". No explanation. The rep tried to get an answer for me and could not get through to the section that is in charge of that form. He is supposed to call me back tomorrow when he gets an update. That was probably the most pleasant conversation I have ever had with the IRS. He was courteous, helpful, and did not try to hide the fact that he did not know why the form was not available. We will see if he actually follows up with a phone call tomorrow. At least I feel better after talking to him. Tom Lodi, CA

Tere
:spaz: can we "overwrite" the amounts in sch E to substitute this form?
mircpa
I called IRS to find out status of release of this form, they told me scheduled date of release is February 13th 2009
BulldogTom
Man, I hope ATX gets that out fast. I have 4 returns sitting here waiting to go. For you big firms, that is not a lot, but for a little practice like mine, that is four unhappy clients who are not out telling their friends how great I am. BulldogTom
Yeah, I know. And I have 4 returns with rental losses sitting here waiting for the form so I can e-file and bill for them. Tom Lodi, CA
greggea
You might take a look in the form instructions at the exceptions to the requirement for filing the 8582 to see if any of them fit your situations. If they do you will need to override the Schedule E. Gregg
OkieTaxGal
When I remove the 8582 from the return it increases the tax liability alot. I guess I'll just wait. I just received the Oklahoma ef forms yesterday. Why is atx so slow. I work at a tax office that uses Taxwise and they had all their forms way back in January.
