grandmabee
Does anyone know anything about Manulife? It used to be John Hancock then merge or ? into Manulife. In 6/06 if did a 2 for 1 spilt. I'm just not sure if this is a demulized(sp) policy like metlife was back years. I have been on their website and big charts for over a hour and can't seem to find anything . Gail in Virginia
As far as I could tell from some quick research on yahoo finance, John Hancock demutualized and then later merged with MFC (Manulife). I don't personally know anything about it. Hope this helps.
JRS
The demutualization happened in September of 1999. You can find more information at this website: http://www.demutualization-claims.com/manufacturers_life_demutualization.htm
clay
I have noticed in doing returns that every 1099-div for Manulife has foreign tax and it is paid to Canada. I believe the company is based in Canada and it is kind of interesting that people who use Manulife end up paying the Canadian tax. Never see this with Metlife, Prudential, etc. for similar type of financial instruments.
