  1. Which, in a way, will be more of a commentary on the culture than on anything she did. Sad, really. So many talented young people turn themselves into "meat" under a mistaken idea that it makes them important rather than pathetic.

  2. That is so sad. I remember watching an interview several years ago with Billy Ray talking to Glen Beck, where he said "I want to be my daughter's best friend." Glen at that time suggested, very gently, that he needed to be "her Dad, not her friend". How right he was.

  3. Thanks, this lesson in history reminds me of how California was part of Mexico and they can't live in peace in their ancestors territory.

  4. So, let me get this straight. Madonna: cone boobs. Lady Gaga: Telephone hat. Miley Cyrus: sticks tongue out for an entire performance. I think she's doing it wrong. Madonna and Lady Gaga might be considered artists. Mylie Cyrus' hillbilly retard father donated her body to the entertainment industry in exchange for success and fortune. She is the result of an image constructed in a board room by a team of marketing people. If she possesses any creativity of her own, she hasn't been allowed to show it.

  5. >>> However, this is actually good for us....because they think we are so smart to get them huge refunds. That is precisely why I don't like it. Misinformed clients judge us by how much more we can get thim in refunds. That is how they compare us to the competition That is a slippery slope. I really hate when a taxpayer says his brother or friend gets a bigger refund than him and why does he get a small refund? Every time I get a referral and if the first thing they say will you be able to get us more refund, I say only if all the allowed credit/deductions are not reflected in prior returns. I have to explain that the refund is really their money that they deposited with the Govt.

  6. I've had many "happily married" couples wanting to know how much is each ones claim to the refund or payment due. When you factor in the state, this is quite a task. The only "advice" I give is to tell them which one is having too much/too little withheld. As far as "splitting the refund", this is not my problem. As far as Taxed's comment about too much withholding in lieu of a bank account: I do tell them that they are giving the govt an interest free loan...but nowadays they aren't getting interest anyway at the bank. If it happens again...I don't comment. Just getting that big check makes some people happy...that they will have a lot of $$$ for something instead of drips and drabs that they will spend. Everyone has their own philosophy.... However, this is actually good for us....because they think we are so smart to get them huge refunds.

  7. Sorry, Judy, for misunderstanding. It just really bugs me how many people I've known personally to complain, but go ahead and buy the crap. the trashy clothes, the makeup, etc.

  8. >>refund claims can still be filed for tax years 2010, 2011, and 2012<< In a related FAQ, the IRS explains that the ruling is effective 9/16/13. That means if you have same-sex married taxpayers on extension who want to file as Single for 2012, they only have until September 15. The same is true for any prior year still open.. After Sep 15 they will have to file original returns as MFJ or MFS.

  9. My older girl has the most wonderful way with words. She (at the grand old age of 23) is disgusted by the way people let their pre-teen and young teen girls dress. She has coined a new term for these girls: "prostitots" She also has a wonderful term for those super-short shorts the older teen girls wear, that have the pockets *longer* than the shorts themselves. "cargo panties" I love that girl.

  11. KC, maybe I wasn't clear about my mom friend's comments. They ARE raising their children as you say, and they were making the comments out of their disgust for the style of clothing for the little girls and their disgust of the double standard of the trashy clothing for girls and not so for the boys. They were trying to do their shopping for school clothes.
