  1. E-mailed from a friend: I was in the six item express lane at the store quietly fuming. Completely ignoring the sign, the woman ahead of me had slipped into the check-out line pushing a cart piled high with groceries. Imagine my delight when the cashier beckoned the woman to come forward looked into the cart and asked sweetly, "So which six items would you like to buy?" Wouldn't it be great if that happened more often?

  2. My mom and dad never "paid" me, but they always paid for lunch, gas and special treats. They also gave me their car when they were no longer able to drive because that was the vehicle we were using for shopping, appointments, etc. This made them feel better about the situation. I knew I would have trouble with two of my brothers over it; and I did. In the end, my niece wanted to buy the car and I told my mom to sell it to her; which she did. These situations are difficult, at best. My heart still aches when I think about it.

  3. I finally figured out WHY I'm a tax preparer ... OMG, I have finally discovered what’s wrong with my brain: On the left side, there's nothing right, and on the right side, there's nothing left.

  4. I had one that I had problems with, went to MyATX site, checked on e-file status, rejection error and it gave me a much better detail of what the problem was. Have you tried that? This year that fail scheme etc.... has been a pain the you know what! But I was able to clear my up by looking on the e-file info part of their website. Deb!

  5. As did I. Just about $25 per letter I can put after my name now. No other benefit.

  6. Did I block three - I thought it was only 2. And you would never be blocked by me. I appreciate you way to much, even if I don't agree with your political views. And I am not a haybaler, but my son is.

  7. Don't misunderstand, I was very happy when they gave us the PTIN so we did not have to put our SSNs on there. I have no problem with them tracking who prepares what returns, and going after the bad ones. What I did not like was when they decided to use it to control preparers without allowing a way to defend against unfounded IRS blocking of a PTIN. I knew someone who was mistakenly accused of some violation of the rules, and discovered that the IRS could freeze a PTIN without any structure in the law for challenging that action, or getting a hearing. And that was BEFORE they came up with the fees.

  8. The IRS has turned the PTIN into nothing more than a legal way to siphon money out of the pockets of honest tax preparers. Initially, it was simply a way for us to protect our SS#. Another fine example of the best our government agencies can do!!
