  1. Had this same error message earlier this afternoon. Followed the instructions, rebooted, rebuilt and it worked fine. Return has been transmitted and waiting for action. Hope it will work for you the same. DougO
  2. You are most welcome. Wish I could have provided better news for them on the state taxes. What part of NE are they moving to? DougO
  3. Presently Nebraskas does not provide any exemption for military pensions, it is fully taxable. Wish it was not so but every time it comes up in the legislature it is beat down or tabled. DougO
  4. Just really getting into the return filing. Noticed this "slow startup" issue along with a very slow response to access a return in return manager over the weekend. Have rebooted and rechecked all the preferences that I setup. Then went back to make a comparison to settings in the 2008 program and found a similar problem now with 2008. It appears to be a software issue rather than a computer problem. And I have 4mg of RAM on a Dell system that has always been very quick for me. Hopefully ATX will address this - reminds me of the slow client letter access that we had several years back.
  5. NECPA - do not attend this meeting without getting a POA and meeting with your client beforehand. If he is not willing to do this then the client needs to leave you completely out of the process - and you need to stay out of it. You can provide the client copies of what you can but that is it. Before you ever sit down with the IRS you need to know what the client has told them and what issues are being questioned. The agent should, once you have the POA, meet with you and be willing to discuss all the issues discussed and then give you a document request to answer their questions. And this looks like a client that needs to "leave" !!
  6. Has anyone heard anything from either TRX or ATX as far as what software TRX is offering at the quoted prices of $299 or $699? The latest comments are now several days old and I sense there is a dispute that is deeper than what appears on the surface. I have not made a final decision either way but would really like to hear something as to what the "rest of the story is" concerning whether we can acquire the real ATX software at these prices or if it is some hybrid package. I am leaning towards ATX since I know what I get there, but I would like to save $$$ just like anyone else.
  7. So has anyone heard anything further from either ATX or TRX on this issue? The silence is deafening !!
  8. Unemployment benefits are taxable in NE, sorry.
  9. Sorry this is so late - have been too busy to even check the board for several days. Capital gains are taxed as ordinary income to NE except in rare instances. For a non resident you include all NE source income, capital gains included, on line 66 of NE Sch III. Then the adjusted tax is carried to the 1040N. Hope that helps. Doug O
  10. My experience with the Omaha office over the holidays is that there is not much. I think they are all on a vacation. I would keep calling and note on your message that you desire a call back. I just had a call from one of the RAs this morning. DougO
