  1. My software company last day was 10/21/2009 I think that was the same for most.
  2. I second all that the previous post said I have used it for 2 years and find it much easier than going directly to e-services.
  3. They can audit all the want we have come out with no problems from the audits with them finding our due diligence is above what we have to do.When you do over 3000 EIC returns you will have clients that lie to you even when you ask all the questions. One third of our clients are new each year our volumn has doubled in 3 years.
  4. If you need info right away call practitioners hot line and you can fax to the person you are speaking to.They say it takes 72hrs if you fax it.You can also do it thru e-services
  5. The same way that IRS must weigh doing timely refunds versus fraud prevention, in our practice we must weigh the time we take doing due diligence against the time our clients will sit and wait for us to do their return. In our shopping center there is a JH and another independent and an HRB across the street. We can only let the line become so long during peak.
  6. I disagree with last post we have been audited twice do to the large amount of EIC returns and our proximity to DC.Both times we came out fine due to us having a signed 8867 for every client plus copies of SS cards for taxpayer and dependents on returns they checked. We also have copies of ID for all taxpayers.
  7. We have 5 work stations 1 main computer during tax season.Off season just the 1 computer works well.Just make sure your main computer has at least 2gigs of ram and fast enough speed. The work stations can have 1gig of ram.
  8. They were at the IRS seminar in NY.They have a way to market tax businesses. I did not think much of it.
  9. Only a time in jail will teach some people to do the correct thing. I have done returns for 2 people who were tax protesters and the time in jail is what forced them to do their returns. They were told no parole without filed returns.
  10. I would put the same post on taxbook.com and see if someone answers.NYEA posts on that sight and he has a lot of insight in these matters.
  11. Can he make the check good now? If so I would call and replace the check with a cashier's.
  12. I would get a POA and call IRS and ask for all income info plus a transcript of the filed return.
  13. You can only advise them what to do. If they do not follow that advice it is your decision to do 2008 return or not. Legally you can still do this years return correctly. What about 2007? I may be jaded because in my area we kid that they get divorced at the door but who knows if they are really married.
  14. You need a 2848 then call practitioner's line they can tell you if check was ever cashed there is a form that you fill out and it takes a couple of months and they will replace it. You can have client sitting with you and he give IRS person permission to talk with you.
  15. Sure the bank most approve the short sale.To determine the tax consequences more info is needed.
  16. I have done 5 of them the people had there HUD-1 form.2 have already received their money without sending additional forms. The preparer who was charged was the one starting the fraud not the clients. He recruited people and shared the refunds. This another case why we need to register preparers and no efins to non registered preparers.
  17. The date of closing on the property and the purchase price.
  18. If LLC did not chose to file as S corp only need Sch E. Did they file with IRS to b taxed as S corp
