  1. Add Form 7004, 8879-S or whatever and 1120/S EF Info. Fill in appropriately, click on E-file, select Federal Extension. If anything is missing or out of order, you will get the message and can correct it. If not, it will be created. Then go to E-file manager and transmit the created form. The only hassle is the signature.
  2. I would PM you if I could figure out how to do it! The help wasn't very helpful to me.
  3. Very strange, I extended 2 yesterday without that happening. I just now updated and noticed that 7004 was included. Could it be the version from today?
  4. You are not alone nor or you imagining things. As michaelmars said, it has been discussed, run through CS, etc. and ATX says, not happening. The best piece of advice I got is to change your preferences for printing under Print Manager to NOT Automatically close Print Manager after printing (uncheck the box). It's a tiny nuisance to have to close the print manager when, on those rare occasions, everything works but it's much better than having to go through all the steps again. And it does seem to print just fine when only that selection is made. Good luck!
  5. I just learned that myself last week via this board. Input the K-1 data as it is and add Form 6198. It took a while to figure out that I had to complete the tab "Ln 11 - Investment" and "Ln 12 - Increases" after putting in Line 1 and line 9. When those were completed, the loss did not flow through to page 1 and it shows just right on the At-Risk Loss CO tab. Good luck!
  6. Not bring forward the carryover? Intentionally? Whatever on earth were they thinking?
  7. Just to pass along - I contacted Karen Fisk about this particular client. She said the SD 100 is considered an attachment to the IT 1040 and, yes, this client's SD 100 was received. It doesn't show on the OH efiled forms, though. Kinda makes me a bit nervous to have no positive confirmation of receipt...
  8. In my opinion, unresearched at this moment, I would report it just to tie up any loose ends. These were business assets and it closes the books, so to speak, on the purchase, use and ultimate disposition. Why not report it?
  9. You could begin with Form 4797. If using ATX, go to the Asset Entry tab and click on the bottom tab Dispostions or Bulk Dispositions. One of the options is Sale/Abandonment which the client is doing. Because it was fully depreciated, the basis is 0 so there is no contribution deduction and no sale value. If input properly, all the information flows nicely. Check to see if there might be any 179 recapture, though.
  10. Thanks, I knew that. There is also a tab that says "E-Filed Forms" on the far right. My question is still, "Does it show in the Ohio efile tab for forms efiled this year?" I am not super diligent in checking that tab on either the federal "1040 EF Info" or the Ohio "OH EF Info" and I have few clients with school district returns. I have always printed them for mailing. I just would like to know that, if efiled, it does show as efiled on the "OH EF Info" tab, E-Filed Forms. If anyone has actually witnessed this phenomenon...
  11. Thanks, but I would still like to know for sure if, when efiled whether with a refund or amount due, it shows on the efiled forms tab as an efiled form. Guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and try it!
  12. I don't believe you can efile KY as a part-year resident. Check the instructions.
  13. Thanks! I was hoping that was the case. Does it show in the Ohio efile tab for forms efiled this year?
  14. I am hoping that the SD-100 will go along but last year I checked the forms that were efiled with the Ohio return and the SD-100 was not on it. When I create an efile (not completely as I never truly create until I input the date signed), the only options are federal and Ohio as piggyback. But since the SD takes OH AGI, is it automatically included? Thanks!
  15. I did add the form but couldn't figure out how to get it completed and matched up with the activity. I finally input what I think is correct on line 11 worksheet for investment. I assumed that Account payable for the activity included loans, payroll taxes, and credit card debt. Anyway, I still don't understand "how did it know" which activity to match up but it seems to have worked! Thanks for support.
  16. I should know this but it's the first time outside of class years ago. S-corp losses exceed the basis for 2008 for sole shareholder. In construction, he's working off of huge credit card debt. It looks bad for the future, too. Meanwhile, how do I input the K-1 (in ATX) showing -$47,330 and not have it show up as deductible loss on page 1 against wife's Sch. C profit? Should I put 0 instead of the actual loss on the K-1?
  17. I tried to get ahead of this problem this year but enclosing the "new" substantiation rules in the organizer and engagement letter packet. But I have always refused to guesstimate for clients. I provide some websites and printouts (they are quite old) and insist that the client determine the value and write it down, in their handwriting, for my records and theirs. Most of my folks now know better than to bring me a slip with a date and generic description. Some of my clients have castoffs better than my new items and some, well, you know!
  18. Umm, KC has already answered. Doh! Prepare a zero 1099 for the son and mark corrected. Wish I was that smart....
  19. Now why didn't I think of that? And that, KC, is why you get the big bucks and the genuine thanks of the grateful folks in this forum. Why try to make things harder than they have to be, I ask myself...
  20. I was informed by a client the income reported for father and son was actually all to father. I can put Corrected on the 1099 for a new one for father but the Void box cannot be checked. I can't find in KB or How to's the way to do this. Any ideas? I would like to efile the corrected and voided forms.
  21. Thanks for the breath of fresh comedy air. I just started using those nasal strips recently; they really do help. I think I should get the newer strips for my husband...
  22. A timely question as I was just notified that two submitted forms 1099 to father and son had incorrect amounts. In fact, father received total, son received none for 2008. Correcting father's is straightforward for efiling but how can I indicate the son's as Void? I couldn't find in KB or How to's. I can't even override to check the Void box. Any ideas?
  23. Ohio is a piggyback and I don't believe you can efile a non-resident Ohio return anyway.
  24. Thanks, KC, but neither of those worked. I can't find anything in the KB either but am probably using the wrong terminology. You know, calendar or schedule instead of cycle. I guess I can live with it because I don't want to take up precious email time or CS phone time for such a trivial issue, especially one I brought on myself though I have no idea how.
  25. Somehow I clicked on something yesterday that enlarged the used to be smallish box that comes up when one clicks on Receive Acks. That box now fills the entire screen. I could live with it but would prefer to have the smaller screen. I can't find how to reset. Anyone know? I need to watch better where my fingers go!
