I have posted my views and thoughts about Bengazi several different times in several different threads. I was chastened for being too political... -

This will get more press than looking for the facts about Bengazi. Just reinforces the worthlessness of our media. -

Hostess is betting on a sweet comeback for Twinkies when they return to shelves next month. The company that went bankrupt after an acrimonious fight with its unionized workers last year is back up and running under new owners and a leaner structure. It says it plans to have Twinkies and other snack cakes back on shelves starting July 15. Based on the outpouring of nostalgia sparked by its demise, Hostess is expecting a blockbuster return next month for Twinkies and other sugary treats, such as CupCakes and Donettes. The company says the cakes will taste the same but that the boxes will now bare the tag line "The Sweetest Comeback In The History Of Ever." "A lot of impostor products have come to the market while Hostess has been off the shelves," says Daren Metropoulos, a principal of the investment firm Metropoulos & Co., which teamed up with Apollo Global Management to buy a variety of Hostess snacks. Hostess Brands Inc. was struggling for years before it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization in early 2012. Workers blamed the troubles on years of mismanagement, as well as a failure of executives to invest in brands to keep up with changing tastes. The company said it was weighed down by higher pension and medical costs than its competitors, whose employees weren't unionized. Consider this....... Washington, D.C. (May 31, 2013) By Michael Cohn The Internal Revenue Service has modified its “first time abate” policy, which provides a one-time consideration of penalty relief, based on the taxpayer’s compliance history, for taxpayers who have been subjected to a first-time penalty charge. The recently updated policy modifies the IRS first time abate policy for penalty relief, the IRS said in an email to tax professionals Friday. This type of penalty removal is a one-time consideration available only for a first-time penalty charge and based on taxpayers’ compliance history. According to the policy, the FTA penalty relief option for failure to file, failure to pay and failure to deposit penalties, under certain conditions, does not apply if the taxpayer has not filed all returns and paid, or arranged to pay, all tax currently due. For example, the taxpayer is considered current if they have an open installment agreement and are current with their installment payments. The FTA relief only applies to a single tax period for a taxpayer, the IRS noted. For example, if a request for penalty relief is being considered for two or more periods of a taxpayer, and the earliest period meets the FTA criteria, FTA would apply only to the earliest period, and not for all periods. Penalty relief under the first time abatement provision does not apply to returns with an event-based filing requirement, such as Form 706, U.S. Estate Tax Return; Form 709, U.S. Gift (and Generation-Skipping Transfer) Tax Return; Form 1120, U.S. Corporation Income Tax Return; and Form 1120S, U.S. Income Tax Return for an S Corporation if, in the prior three years, at least one Form 1120S was filed late but not penalized. This list is not all-inclusive, the IRS cautioned. The IRS said it would base decisions on removing any future failure to file, failure to pay or failure to deposit penalties on any information taxpayers provide that meets reasonable cause criteria. Taxpayers who have been billed for penalty charges who feel they have reasonable cause, should send their explanations with their bill to their service center or call the IRS at (800) 829-1040 for assistance. Taxpayers may also use Form 843, Claim for Refund and Request for Abatement. It appears to me that the IRS is moving toward no forgiveness at all.... Just something to keep in mind. The safety net we have depended on for so long is being taken down. This means more diligence on our part and convincing our clients of the same. In my not so humble opinion... This is just more "political correctness" our society is using to "hide" the truth. It is the "wussifying" of America at it's finest. Better to not offend someone than to speak the straight truth. I for one, and sick of it. -
I have all the technologies except a tablet. I have not moved to a smart phone for several reasons. My cell and text work great. I received a text message last week that was laced with a Trojan virus for smartphones. My phone was too dumb to know what to do with it. Problem avoided!!

I have a steak dinner that says the bank won't pay the penalties. You should write a letter asking for abatement and explain the situation. First time offenses are usually granted, but with the latest stuff I see from the IRS, I would not count on it like we used to be able to.

I don't purchase cell phone services on a contract. I won't own an Ipad. I refuse to own anything portable that I cannot change the batteries in.

At the conference center in Chicago last year, there was no WiFi in the entire convention center. I took some written notes, but taking my laptop was fruitless otherwise. I am going to Atlanta. It is the least expensive of the 5. The other 4 venues are proud of their hotels. Anyone here from Atlanta? Also, Kerri will be there for ATX. I have this on very RELIABLE information.

Daniel does not look like me or his mother. (my ex) However, he is the spitting image of my Dad. Pictures of my Dad at 16 and my son at 16, it is hard to tell them apart, other than the age of the picture paper.

Ok jainen, post the content. The link takes you to a login page. You have to be subscribed to Thompson Rueters to access it, and I am not. I really want to see this one.

You can call that Level II learning from a forum. I have learned literally hundreds probably thousands of little tidbits that have helped me many times by the same procedure. That is why I like it when people post final results and explain them.

Send me a private message. I can help you get all the returns on one computer.

It appears, MsTabbyKats, that you need to read thoroughly and carefully Circular 230. Then refer your client to someone with the proper authority to represent them. RTRP designation is for advertising and bragging rights only. It gives us NO MORE AUTHORITY than an unenrolled preparer. NONE. It was simply a method for the IRS to increase revenues and nothing else.

Saw this sign in a business: We do three kinds of work here. Good-Cheap-Fast. You may have any TWO. If it is Good and Cheap, it will not be Fast. If it is Good and Fast, it will not be Cheap. If it is Fast and Cheap, it will not be Good. There is much more to evaluating tax software than how fast a person can put the information in. As I strive to become a professional of professionals, speed is about 3rd or 4th priority. In my business, I have clients, not customers looking for the "fast food" version of tax preparation.
