These are the reasons we are changing software in addition to doing the beta testing. The beta testing is in the faint hope that things will be fixed. They are still using the Raven database, but in the network scenario, how the program accesses the database is being completely reworked. He explained to me how the changes will work, and they are on the right track. "All design resources are dedicated to making the changes." I suggested to him that they need to incorporate tax professionals with computer knowledge as part of the development team. This is something they are severely lacking. Skeptically hopefull, but still changing software. The 12.16 update sealed the deal on changing software for 2013. As I posted before, I will keep everyone on this board informed as I go along.

I have been chosen to be a beta tester for the 2013 program. The head of development called me personally to ask about my lates posts on this board. He and I spent at least an hour discussing what is going to be changed for 2013. (I started the conversation telling him my total skepticism) He indicated that the developers must make "...a complete infrastructure change of the software..." for 2013 and that is what is happening. I will keep everyone apprised of what I discover. I also told him that for me to do a beta test, the program I will test must be FULL and totally operational. Not the half-baked, half the features disabled software that had been given to beta testers for 2012. He assured me that would be the case. All that said, we will still probably pull the trigger and use different software at the firm for 2013. I am hopeful, but cautiously skeptical. More information as I get it. I promise the REAL story about 2013 as I test it.

I have been disturbed for years!! Sanity is WAY overrated!!

These are all due to the sequester. The administration want the public "to feel as much pain as possible due to these tiny tiny cuts!"

For clarity here, bazookas and RPG are NOT guns. For civilians to own Military grade weapons is already a Federal crime. Another example of exagerate then extrapolate. Your comment is sensless and overflows with the lack of a reality based, factual or logical basis of any kind. Law abiding citizens do not murder people with guns.

If you are a liberal, it does!

Anyone who has not upgraded their hardware and operating systems by now, will continue to have trouble with ATX. It has been posted here MANY times that for the program to be at least "useable in a somewhat reasonable manner" you need WIN7, lots of RAM and several other things previously detailed on this board. Still, people refuse to upgrade hardware while holding on to the software. I upgraded my standalone at home to 12.17 and have not seen any issues yet. More information about the network when I go back to the firm on Monday.

Diminished sense of humor is another trait.....

Isn't that what we have been seeing here in this thread??

Just read all the posts in ths "Software Issues" forum. Then YOU decide. My personal observed and first hand experience opinion is... HELL NO it is not fixed.

Replace "Intelligent" with "low information" or "liberal without a factual or logical response" and I'll agree. Neither of the last two groups should be anywhere near the word "intelligent." This is my observed opinion. The First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America gives me the right to broadcast it. (No animals were harmed in the production of this stated opinion, and it has ZERO carbon foot print) That should satisfy all the tree huggers and animal rights activists.

Installed 12.17 at 4:00. No smoke so far!!

I have no choice. 12.16 has been a disaster!!!

Now just convince all the accessory companies to write drivers for W8 and you may have a valid position. Business apps should not be driven by OS unless you are in favor or replacing all business software on a yearly basis. (A waste of money just so Microsoft can brag that they have the newest and greatest OS)

Electronic filing of 1040X is not even on the radar for the IRS. I was at a presentation last fall with an IRS rep. We asked him directly about the possibility of e-filing 1040X. "I would not expect any action on this for at least 5 years. They are having difficulty with the systems they have already put in place, and do not presently have plans to add 1040X."

You are correct. Microsoft has backed off on its latest OS, just like it did Vista. New computers are no longer required to only have WIN8, they come with WIN7 installed and a set of disks to upgrade, if you choose. Microsoft has admitted that WIN8 is great for touchscreen devices, but not other equipment. I used a demo of WIN8 at a tech symposium immediately after its release. Took me 5 minutes to know what Microsoft has taken many months to admit. WIN8 is the "skip" OS.

"RUN Forrest RUN!! This guy will get you nothing but in deep trouble. So many things wrong with the information posted. Give his information back and save yourself grief. "You have asked me to prepare your returns in a manner that does not comply with the ethical standards I must abide by in Circular 230."

Change all the settings on your monitor to factory default (brightness, contrast, etc). Then choose the auto config for sizing. I'll bet the problem will go away. You probably had settings to work with the old video card. Reset to factory, then try adjusting brightness, contrast, etc..
-
If your monitor is old, it may not have the capability to show proper contrast with the new video card. New 21" flat screen monitors are cheap. A wise investment.

I am acquainted with the Sheriff in my county. I went to school with two different deputies. I fly straight, fly right so I don't look over my shoulder. Those that break the law are the ones who should worry. Back to the point... How is Sheriff Joe Arpio of Maricopa County, AZ enforcing the sentences of convicted criminals handed down by the court system, make him the final arbiter? More exaggeration and extrapolation of the exaggeration.
-
Exaggeration, then extrapolation from the exaggeration. That is how the liberal mind presents their positions. This method is used more frequently when a liberal mind is confronted with facts, truth and logic that disprove his position.
