  1. What exactly would you accrue, if you don't include the personal miles value in 2019 wages.
  2. Sorry, I didn't read your post closely enough.
  3. You can only get the AOC for 4 years so if it's her first year in college I would take the Tuition & Fees Deduction, saving the AOC for years with multiple quarters and or semesters.
  4. Yes, I did it with third party access. Never saw that message. Revenue Online is really quirky and very frustrating. The program is very non intuitive They probably subcontracted out the programming to a company like Oracle, who was responsible for the "Cover Oregon" debacle! What a waste of taxpayer's money !!!
  5. I got a call back from my Monday afternoon message this morning. I was able to add way more than 3 accounts on Tuesday. I only have 1 more Form WR left to file
  6. Basically, ATX is filing for you by using their TCC code.
  7. IRS processing of 1099s thru the old FIRE system is low priority at this time of year. Don't expect to receive any acks for at least another week.
  8. Since Oregon has made the efiling of Form WR mandatory for 2019, the ODR didn't even create a 2019 version of the form, for that reason ATX will not have the form. In order to file Form WR, you have to log onto Revenue Online, then create third party access to each client's acocount , then you can efile the form.
  9. I would say that 90 % of my client refunds are direct deposited. I always insist on having a copy of a voided check. The only time that I have had problems was in the past when some banks used to use a different routing number for deposits than for checks. Also I won't do direct deposits to savings accounts unless the client provides me a copy of a deposit slip. Over the years. my clients have only had 3 or 4 direct deposits bounce back to the IRS and none of them were upset.
  10. It might go thru, it might not depending on the receiving financial institution. Frankly, the worst that will happen is that a portion of the refund will bounce back to the IRS and a check for that amount will be mailed to the taxpayer.

    e-file 1099's

I received my 1099 efile confirmations on the 26th via one of the online filing services.

    Drake & Firefox

I am setting up a new computer before I download Drake 2019. Recently, I have been using the Chrome browser, but for many years before I used Firefox. Does Drake work well in conjunction with Firefox ?
  13. And I'm sure your clients like mine keep contemporaneous and accurate mileage records
  14. I have run into this same problem with S Corporation clients several times in recent years. With my clients the problem arose because of a lazy salesperson who didn't want to do the extra paperwork told my clients they didn't need to register the vehicle in the corporate name. My firm policy is to make the client go back and have the paperwork redone correctly, which they have done.

    ATX BILLING

It's probably in one of ATX's hidden files, which they always use.
  16. Over the years, my experience with contractors is that for the most part they are concerned about the current job they are trying finish and the next job they need to start yesterday and not much else.
  17. You can continue to use the contractor, however back withholding rules apply, which used to be 28 %.
  18. Copied from Accounting Today: "Taxpayers are feeling good about their tax-filing abilities, according to a new survey, with 89 percent indicating they feel confident they have their withholding set up correctly and 95 percent saying they're confident that they're taking all the deductions they can." I wonder how different these results would be if you surveyed taxpayers on April 15th?
  19. I just fired a payroll/tax client, a carpet installer who I had to remind one too many times that he had forgotten to pay me. Nice guy, but now that I am easing into semi - retirement I just don't need the aggravation.
  20. I have been efiling my 1099s on a different program since Thursday.
  21. This issue with ATX has existed going back for many years
  22. Interesting, since I received new security definitions this morning dated 1/16/20 for MSE on my Win 7 computer ?
  23. At the top of Schedule 1 of the 2019 Form 1040 is the following question: "At any time during 2019, did you receive, sell, send, exchange or otherwise acquire any financial interest in any virtual currency? __Yes ___No" More work for all of us and more exposure of risk !
  24. Several articles that I have read say that you shouldn't try to upgrade computers which more than 4 years old to Win 10 due to hardware considerations.

    e-file 1099's

I believe the IRS FIRE system opened up on January 10th. However that doesn't mean that ATX is ready yet ?
