I would never drop my snack but the thought of Form Coconut struck me as the funniest thing I've heard in connection with information returns. I know, the material is unending, but still...

And there's that one employee who sees their SSN on every check stub for six years and on six W-2s, and never notices it's wrong, and calls me because her tax preparer, who should be ME, caught it in year six, but I digress.

But those forums make me cry. -
Your opinion has been noted. And nothing has been done. #mylife

I don't know which companies pay attention to their own surveys, but it makes me feel better to somehow make them aware if they have an issue that they need to correct. If I don't tell them, who will? And how will I sleep at night with that on my conscience? Seriously, if one person hounds them ad nauseam, and nobody else says a word, they may just think the one person is a disagreeable idiot. Also, if everything was fabulous, I think it's good to tell them that, too. We like it when clients do that, after all.

I had one leave her info in the mailbox this morning. I really don't mind. Better now than when I'm covered up. I'm here at the office four days a week with year round folks. Might as well not be bored. It does amaze me that they don't seem concerned about deadlines at all.

Yeah, but then I think about my daughter's tuition for grad school, and I decide to wait till I'm rich as ship to do that. Plus, he is a real help in spreading the ship throughout the year. Expanding they tax year even. Good ship.

Everything will be in ship shape, I'm sure.

Just had a client who missed the deadline come by and have me help him fill out a check for estimated tax. For 2015. He did not mention when he'd be able to get his tax info in. He's been busy. (So busy).

I do submit the deposits for clients. I have not had any shaky clients for payroll tax. I'm glad, cause I, too, hate to see income walk out the door. And, you are correct, your client won't be able to do it, or will be habitually late and even worse off than if you had charged five times more. Would like to hear from anybody who has been hit with the Trust Fund Recovery Penalty or had a close call.

It's not like we have ship for brains.

My client brought in a ship ton of notices from TN Dept of Revenue today. Could not happen at a more shippy time. Thanks for bringing all this ship today, client.
-
Just look at this ship.

How about "since taxpayer mileage 'log' was not creative enough can you let him slide? He had good intentions. If you concentrate, you can smell those good intentions, come on now..."

In an bold business move that will save lives, I am changing this question I ask clients: Do you have an e-mail address? Do you have an e-mail address that you check every %^&$ once in a while?

I think it's worse than April 15, too. Oh, and about Saturday. I had a voice mail yesterday, from a client I really love who was sick all winter and got an extension: "Hey, Rita, I think the deadline is Saturday, so I better get you my stuff by Friday, right?" I really don't know WTH she's thinking. It takes me several days in March to get to her return, but I guess she thinks she is the only one who got an extension. And that I am working Saturday. She would be wrong. About everything. Let me count the ways. (((Hugs)))

I don't try and explain to people wanting old returns prepared and throwing money at me that IRS is not going to issue the refund for this or that year. I'm preparing returns, not cutting the checks. They probably won't even notice when they don't get it. /s Ok, not really.

Absolutely. When in doubt, hug it out.

Well, it turns out that no, they were not covered by health insurance January - June, they owe over $9k, and husband left me a voice mail Friday after hours: "To be on the safe side, let's get another extension." These two new clients are going to be two of my favorites in a few years. I just know it.
