  1. I've run into this a number of times when trying to open prior years' programs. Rebooting helps sometimes but not always. I did have this happen once with this year's program a few weeks ago. Rebooting didn't help. I ended up doing a system restore, and that resolved the problem. I believe an anti-virus (not anti-virus itself, but related security; I use Norton) software update was the culprit, but I'm not sure. I hope this helps.
  2. On the 1099R input, at the very bottom of the page, there's a box that says "Check box to exclude ins premiums for retired ...", and then enter the amount in the field on the same line.
  3. I get the 'could not connect to the server' message too. About one day a week, often lasts all day. Rebooting occasionally resolves it. And if opening any years prior to 2019, more often than not I can't get in the software for the same reasons. I am also occasionally getting the encountered an error and must shut down message.
  4. Step up basis at death has been under attack as a benefit for "the rich" for a few years. Chances of that still occurring in 41 years is unlikely in my opinion. Not sure about the rest.
  5. I believe that is only for 2021, not 2020.
  6. Hey, I re(re-)submitted my return with this issue and it was approved by the IRS this time. Try it again.
  7. Not surprising. I'm guessing a software update will be required. Please keep us posted. This could be a problem for more folks this year with the expanded IP PIN availability.
  8. I'm having the same problem, but I'm not sure what to do either.
