  1. Really doesn't matter to me if you stay or not, KC. I understand Rita has one of those poles and blanket things that drag behind a horse. We will just borrow that and drag you back if you leave. Sounds like fun, don't it?
  2. Had a Piggly Wiggly in Rootstown Ohio when my wife and I were first married and it was our favorite grocery store. OK - it was the ONLY grocery store but still - it was our favorite. Very funny!!!
  3. KC, all kidding aside, you know, I hope, my feelings toward you. You have demonstrated expertise, compassion, knowledge and discerment. It's very possible some of the newer folks don't know the KC those of us that have been around awhile know. You do not need to change a thing. Keep on keepin on. You have demonstrated your desire to be a friend to the friendless - and that is enough for me.
  4. Aaaawwwwww really? You are so sweet! Some of the sweetest deepest love I have seen is a fat kid eating cake. But are we allowed to use that analogy? :)
  5. You say that even though IRS has admits and other folks using different software say they are having the same issues?
  6. I think my outstanding State acks exceed 50. I never in the past left my office at the end of the season with as big a stack of unresolved e-files. The stack approached three inches high. In years past I might be waiting for three to five State acknowledgements. But not this year. And the chararcter of my practice has not changed one iota. So it impresses me that the IRS and whomever is responsible for the e-filing fiascos have no concept of future planning. I guess they must have assumed that everyone that had waited for the forms approvals until March 8th or there abouts would just fall in order and extend and efile ratably over the summer. Clearly they did not anticipate the rush on the system. Perhaps a campaign to the public extolling the benefits of extending (for future considerations) might be in order. Most all of us understand the extenison, but the vast majority of my clients would roll over in their grave before allowing their return to be extended. Poorly mis or underinfomed by the government.
  7. Agreed. The ship has sailed. Her only recourse now is to pay the tax and move on.
  8. to this filing season. It has been real. It looks a lot better in the rear view mirror. You all enjoy what ever time off you can get. I know I am going to. Thanks again for the deep commitment to this group.
  9. Agree with JohnH. If it were my office, we would call him post haste, thank him and ask if he would like an appointment next week to go over the return and remind him that a return can be amended if need be. Now this is assuming the coffee and donuts aren't laced. :)

    PA ACK's

Only took me 9 hours to resolve these today. These are the reasons I attempt to cease preparing returns a week before the deadline. If this would have come up while I was attempting to get returns done I probably would have found a very high bridge today.
  11. Well, I am not certain WHERE CCH is anymore. When I worked for them as a sales rep in Central Texas, the main offices were in Chicago and I suspect they still are. But the Small Firms Services division is now in Atlanta - and judging from the recent new digs, I would assume they are planning on staying.

    PA ACK's

I received rejects on all of mine that have been hung up since the 9th. Some of the rejects were returns efiled just yesterday also. All of them because of an outdated form - the pa efile form needs to be version 35. The result was about 40 rejects. I did not have anything else to do today anyway. Geez!!!
  13. Lifting my head out of the hole a little more frequently now and stealing more and more daring looks around. It is amazing (and frightening) to realize how much life passes us by while we have our heads buried in our papers and computer screens. Do you all realize that it is the middle of April 2013 already? Just sayin'.
  14. I still have 33 corps on extension and will finalize 45 personal, 1 partnership and 3 fiduciary extensions today. I believe the number of returns and the revenue are up (I certainly feel like they should be) but won't confirm that until later in the month.
  15. Agreed and well said Terry. We, on the front lines, don't recognize the hard work these folks do. They are folks just like us who go to work everyday to make a difference and when the product is less than we expect we fill out minds with negative thoughts about these folks. This is not to say that some of those thoughts are not well founded, but I believe the vast majority of the folks up and down the line are out there trying to make a difference. They, like us, have had less than a perfect season and played the cards that have been dealt. I have said before that this will be a season to remember and learn from. All of us, up and down the line, need to take that away from this season. And that said, I am ready, and in fact have already begun, to say good bye to the 2013 tax season. It's extensions and e- filing today and tomorrow, wait for a couple of pickups early Monday and lock the door (with me on the outside of it) at noon.
  16. I guess I missed it in 2008. Anyway, thanks for the smiles and grins this morning.
  17. IRS does not send out unsolicited emails as a first point of contact. Delete. Delete. Delete.
  18. Before the final, final rush, to express my deepest gratitude to this group as a whole and to each member as an individual. First let me state that if I have offended anyone in anyway during these last thirteen weeks I offer my deepest apologies. It was never my intent to offend. But enough of that. I know in my heart of hearts that I would have made it through this season in your absence, but I would not have wanted to. I have gained such great insight to the software, tax issues, office practices, and other issues from you. And as a whole the season has been made tolerable and at times enjoyable because of you. As has been often said, this group is a family, and it has never held more true than during this convoluted season. Thank you all for the comraderie, the fellowship, the sharing and yes, even the scoldings. I am better for having spent this time with you. I wish for each of you nothing but the best of everything good in every aspect of your lives and a very, very bright future. May God Bless you in every way imaginable!
  19. It must be just you OR the other side of the issue must be just me. The days seem to get longer about now. More daylight, less sleep, more work. Well I guess only new part of that is more daylight. :)
  20. Let's go. I can not tell you how inviting that sounds right now!
  21. Can we please wait a week. I honestly don't feel like I have the energy to even lift a pencil. I even tried to get excited about going and .... Well, there ya go, lost my train of thought.
  22. We have a "no jack@$$'s allowed" policy. Of course occasionally one does slip through the cracks and I will give them one season to conform and then it is hit the road. I have one right now that I do not have a good feel for. He is a referral from another long term monthly client and he mailed me his stuff with a note that said he would prefer my not signing the return. I will call him tomorrow to be certain that was an erroneous note, otherwise I will ask where he wants his stuff mailed.
  23. I agree with being tired of being tired. I started the day with 20 returns in-house to do and got through 8 of them. It is clear I am on auto-pilot cause sometimes I have to force the energy just to get out of my chair to retrieve the return from the printer. Mentioned last evening, if someone could be more fatigued I would not know how. So looking forward to Monday noon.
  24. In my accounting training I was taught that the general rule of thumb is that everything directly related to generating the income is classified as costs associated with generating the income, aka, cost of goods and services sold. I would put the per deim amounts I COGS on the "other" line.
  25. Just had one of my monthly write-up clients drive in from about 20 miles away to pick up her tax return and she said "you know Ron, we have been together for 17 years". My response after picking myself up off the floor was, "are you kidding me?" So hard to believe - and we have been through a lot together including the loss of her late husband. A celebratory hug was in order. Would that they were all that nice and appreciative of our services.
