I called TAXACT and they have bundle prices the one they quoted me is as follows: unlimited e-filing unlimited 1040's All state returns w/ unlimited use and e-filing Price: $ 500.00 They have other bundle prices also but you need to call them and ask for the bundle price for tax preparers. Drawback NO conversion package but were willing to let me have the 2006 program in May at no cost so I could input my deprec data etc this summer. Then they have a rollover program just like ATX. Cool deal, I tried the 2005 demo disc and I like how it works really fast going from form to form etc. Marge Powell
  3. I have been on the phone with Tax Act twice in the last two weeks. They have a package deal that goes like this: unlimited 1040 all states unlimited free e-file price $ 500.00 I got the 2005 program and I like the feel of the program and it goes really fast with jump to features from form to form. Lots of nice worksheets etc. Only drawback I can see is no conversion program. But they are willing to give you the 2006 program in May of this year so I have all summer to input my deprec schedules etc. I will then be able to roll that over to the 2007 program. I figured then I could buy the W2-1099 program from ATX for $ 140.00 and would have my payroll reports solved. Tax Act also has other bundle prices for those of you that want the 1065 and corp returns also. You just need to call them up and ask for the preparer bundle price. They are located in Cedar Rapids Iowa and I am in Denison, IA. So TAXXCPA do not just go by the prices on the website. Call them up and talk to them. I have not yet made the final decision to change yet as I am not so sure I want to input all my info into a new software this summer... Marge Powell

    CHEATERS???

yup sure will just as soon as he pays me for what he owes me for my acctg fees... lol Would not be the first one I did that too.. I sometimes think that these guys must think that we are all a bunch of dummy's. Marge
  5. Duh ! Will be glad when this year is over... The problem was that I only had one 5329 pulled into the return. The 1099R's were one for spouse and one for taxpayer so I needed to pull in a second 5329 and check the spouse box.. Brain dead here Marge :P
  6. Thank you I will try that. Marge

    CHEATERS???

Just a little more info on the above crap. I added up all the cash paid outs and his income is now up to over 110,000.00. What a crook. I know this guy was trying to pull a fast one with me because of his attitude. He kept telling me how bad business has been when in fact it was better then last year. He had a fit last year because he owed taxes. So he just figured he would'nt report all his income this year so he would not have to pay. Marge
  8. Since the last update I am having problems with 1099-R's that have code G or rollover amounts on it. Normally the code G takes care of it but no matter what I do with this one I keep getting red error messages that say that the total of the tax on 5329 must match total of 1099-R's in the return. I have tried the following: Put just an amount in box 1 with code G which is the way that the 1099 R is typed. I have put an amount in both Box 1 and Box 2 with the Code G that does not help either. I have put an amount in box 1, 2 and the rollover line that doesnt help either. Help please....... Marge Powell Denison, Ia
  9. How did you do that??? Marge
  10. George it would be easier and probably less expensive to call ATX I believe they will sell you old discs for about $ 20.00 each. Marge Powell Denison, Ia
  11. Seems odd that it is on a 1099-B and not a 1099-Misc. Is there catagories on the 1099-B? I have no real help for you here but maybe your client could get somewhere by talking to someone else that has done this..

    CHEATERS???

Thank you both for your thoughts. I kind of had my suspicions when they brought me their last two quarters of income. I even questioned them then and they said that boy business was really bad lately... Well according to the bank statements, business was steady all year If they do not want to fix things now I will tell them to take it elsewhere, the money I will lose for the writeup etc is a small price to pay for not getting myself in trouble with the IRS and the State of IA..

    CHEATERS???

 Have a small restaurant that I did the quarterly sales tax for in 2006. Two weeks or so ago this person brought in their reciepts and crap in a bag. Had my girls total up reciepts and go thru the carbon copies furnished us of the checks they wrote. Gross sales reported on Sales tax returns little over $ 35,000.00 Expenses added up to about $ 85,000.00 Called them told them that if they wanted me to continue working for them they must bring me all the bank statements. Deposits add up to $ 84,000.00 So what do you suppose they thought? That I would not notice the difference here? No loans that I can see... Ok so am going to set up appt with them on Monday and tell them what I know and ask them what they want me to do. The correct tax return or take it elsewhere... IF they tell me to report all the income then I am going to also amend their sales tax returns. Is this the proper way to handle this or not???? Darn people anyway....
  14. THANKS TO KC I HAVE MY ANSWER ON THIS ONE !!!!
  15. Yes I am still doing a big farm acct.. yuk for this time of year. This person has a gigantic loss this year even without putting in the new farm equip he bought in 06. Do I have to use 7yrs 150 db or may I use SL 10Yrs to spread it out a bit. This person has a carry forward NOL also and prob won't need the deprec for a couple more years anyway. Please is this allowed or not? Thank You very much
  16. This is one that I can't e-file because it was rejected because their daughter claimed herself when she filed her own return. I had to amend the daughter and now paper file the parents. I suppose they could probably slap my hand but what else could the IRS do to me for putting it on the front? Not much me thinks. Thanks for the answer
  17. Seems like whenever I include the injured spouse form with the tax return NO one at the IRS pays any attention to it. Has anyone ever put it on the front of the 1040? I think I am going to try that on the one I am doing now. Will I get any flack from them if I do this, ya think? Thank you so much for any input. and again thank you to the person who started this board. I don't feel so alone anymore.. lol
