Well I bit the bullet and joined Tax Refund Express which uses Orrtax software. It cost me $ 299.00 + 29.95 for shipping. For that fee I get the following: All income tax prep software, 1040, all business returns, estates, gift tax etc All States Free unlimited efiling Bank products W2 and 1099 program which includes all 941's etc for all states etc Free conversion from ATX to Orrtax They do it for you I just could not beat that price. I have used the demo disc and they are sending me the complete set for 2006 so I can finish up with my extensions and get some practise on it. I am hoping I did not error in my decision. My bottom line the last few years has been going down hill each year and I just had to cut costs somewhere. Marge

Unlimited returns for 1040, all business, payroll, free e-filing. The regular renewal price is $ 499.00 + 29.95 shipping. Chad offered it to me a first time user for $ 299.00 + 29.95 shipping. The software is Orrtax. He is sending me a fully operational CD of the 2006 program. Will be doing my extensions on it. I will report how it goes when I get it. It is now Fri the 20th where are these people coming from. I have gotten new ones everyday since I declared myself on vacation. Lady showed up at my house this morning. She hands me two big manilla envelopes. One is marked 2005 and the other 2006. She said take your time I know we are late. Then she is going to leave. I said hey lady, who are you??? Got the pertinent info and told her I would call her sometime between now and October.. lol she didnt seem to care. I am sick of tax returns right now... Marge

I have decided that Marge's Bookkeeping will be my part time job. I will cut way back and kick all my pita clients to the curb. Pick and choose my clients and go with TAXACT for software. I have a already gotten two job offers for really good accounting positions and will probably end up with more money at year end then I do doing this full time. I figure I can do 100 tax returns nites and weekends and keep a few good bookkeeping clients. I just cannot see giving ATX over a $1000 per year for Max when it is overkill for my needs. I would like to continue with this board though if that is alright with the rest of you. Marge

I am done now. all extensions are accepted and all returns accepted, picked up etc. I did have one phone call today and told them they must have the wrong #. They called me at home and woke me up... lol I too love this board and all of you... Marge

I agree with all of the above. I will not beg ATX for nothing. I actually like this forum better then theirs anyway. We can be ourselves here. I feel at home here.. I will be sending erc some money to keep this one up and running I figure if we all sent just $10.00 it would take care of at least 12 months if not more. I would also be willing to send more if need be. Marge

I am finally done too except for 6 extensions. Can't do those cause they are not ready yet. Going to go to office til noon tommorrow for some late straglers to pickup. Told them all that if they were later then noon I would NOT be there. Thanks to ERC the season ended on a happy note because of this board. I use homestead.com It is very easy to work with. Maybe now that tax season is almost over I can do some badly needed work on my website. Have been neglecting that lately. Homestead is reasonable too. Marge
