  1. I have been developing that conversation in whats left of my mind. "I will renew & pay when I have a working copy installed and have done a shakedown cruise. Otherwise I will have to jump ship" Ship me the software (no download) and I will pay for it when it works. Unlike this year when the product did not work until the very last minute and cost us Thousands of dollars in revenue as well as days and hours of production. And CCh had my money for a whole year.

  2. Any of the above mentioned programs form based or are they all like drake? Start from worksheet? I really have a hard time working from worksheet, prefer ATX in that I can go line by line on return. Tried Drake last summer for one return and was totally lost. Been working from forms since before computers.

  3. Did you double-check to make sure that the overpayment is not being applied to the 2013 estimate? I've had that happen before. Clicked the wrong box when working tired.

Thanks for the thought. But that was not issue. Checked just now to see if that was the case. Going to paper f ile. Kids return been here 3 weeks. No more time for this kinda thing.

  4. Have several returns with the no tax due or refund box checked on the state e-file info. Return shows refund. Tried deleting and recreating state return, discard e-file info page, reboot computer AND server. Recreate e-file info page and comes back just as it was. Accepts direct deposit info etc. BUT shows 0.00 refund. Anybody see this?

  5. Do not know how to fix that, I have several like that and trying to restore one that was in the approximate location, it failed. I assume that it is corrupted. No more time to play with this software. Behind 300 returns and comminserate amount of income.

  6. Maybe the program is working for some, however it is not working here. It is better than a month ago but still pauses between each entry, takes a full minute or better tocreate e-file and 3 to4 minutes to populate print screen (whee you select the forms/docs to be printed). FAM stalls on any new asset. I could go on. Had 5 years of back taxes for a client. Did 4 in less than an hour, Get to 2012 took a good hour. Making for a long and non productive tax season.

  7. Ditto Tom, we have been using it since inception. If the IRS takes the refund, then we are out the fee. But that has only occurred once and we got the money this year. I refuse to do refund anticipation Loans or anything else that incurs large fees. No prepaid debit cards or any other things that I might think are immoral. If you cannot pay me cash now (CC or Check) then 15.00 for the convenience is not exorbitant. before somebody challenges me, the FREE debit cards have per transaction charges. Great for some but my job is to counsel on holding on to your wealth, not feeding another bank entity.

  8. I am not a programmer nor am I computer repairman. However, I know when a program DOES NOT Work. The MeF (whatever that is) has been coming for several years. I do not know how an e-filing format can affect the program before creating an e-file. Our revenue is halved. Production is non existent. Program even crashed server overnight.

  9. WIN 7

Here's how to display hidden files and folders.

    1. Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33_818, clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Folder Options.

    2. Click the View tab.

    3. Under Advanced settings, click Show hidden files, folders, and drives, and then click OK.

To learn more about hidden files, see What is a hidden file?

  10. I have to put my 2 cewnts in here. I have using ATX since 1997. At this point I am running 3 Win7 workstations from a server. I have one (1) workstiation that will almost work on a rollovered return. My personal workstation will always crash the program or be unable to open return due to "mismatch form" error. I installed the Program when it first arrived in late November. Multiple trips to Customer service and few successes at getting to Tech support. Frustrated, you bet,

Jack I am glad you got yours working. But when somebody starts venting stop and think about what your are saying. I do know ATX and no I did not read the manual anymore than I have for any other software or the prior 15 years of ATX. I have had IT look at the server and the workstations. Ram and processors all meet the specs as suggested by CCH and ATX. At the moment my revenue is down over $7000.00 ytd due to inability to open returns. I can initate a new return, Transcribe all the prior years info from the prior years but lose the time and continuity that should be afforded by rolling a return forward. Tomorrow will be my breaking point. Although I cannot say that I have decided what I am going to do at this point.

  11. i appreciate the input. KC that is exactly what I said in the phone conversation, but started doubting myself with all the hoopla over domestic partner etc. AZ even has a "marriage by covenant" law. no license required. but there are still some legal stuff that has to be done. this couple probably would not qualify for that Either.
