  1. Thank you. I agree that it should go onto Line 21 for consistency, but reporting it on Schedule E would save the client almost $ 5000 (due to passive loss limitations) and I just needed some support to enter it onto line 21. Again, thanks.
  2. Single member LLC files Schedule E Commercial Building Rental. Theft of copper wiring in 2012 $ 52000. Building basis reduced and Form 4684 income producing property theft deducted on Schedule A. No insurance proceeds expected, but in 2013 received Insurance proceeds of $ 52000. Tax benefit rule for income, but after I increase basis, do I put this income on 1040 Line 21 Itemized Deduction recovery or should I put it on Schedule E income? Thanks for your help. Linda
  3. Hello. I am considering offering RAL/IRAL this year...but I am overwhelmed and underinformed. I have collected bank pricing information, but am concerned about customer support. Is support handled by individual banks or by ATX or is it situational? Can you recommend a bank based on your experience and tell me why you like it? Is it true (per SBBT bank rep) that I can charge up to $ 400 for my fee? Must I charge the same bank fee (my processing fee) for all RAL/IRAL or can the fee be changed based on time spent? Thank you for your help. Linda
  4. Experiencing delays on returns with no EIC. Expect refund on Friday, but IRS refund website says to expect 10 day delay. We use ATX worksheet to calc recovery rebates and verify amounts received on IRS website. Beginning to think IRS is experiencing matching problems with rebates...is ATX worksheet imbedded data in e-file?
  5. All of our PA returns and 4 of our NY are still showing IRS cleared, so I called ATX this afternoon. Jessica assured us that she would rehang the PA returns and we could receive ack or sync and easily solve our problem. We called back 2 hours after we did not receive her confirming e-mail and she had to send me a second e-mail because the first did not come through. We followed instructions and ack/sync did not update the accepted PA returns. So....we called again and again waited on hold and again had to answer basic screening questions and this time Jennifer told us that "upper management" had informed her that the IRS was holding certain e-files (what????????). Clearly she didn't have a clue and would not pass us on, so we called again. Finally got through to Tristan in tech support who finally figured out that Jessica had rehung the PA/NY incorrectly and that it would take him about 2 hours to fix the problem. I am hopeful that the problem will be solved by tomorrow morning. They have to rehang the returns (whatever that is), but apparently support is not well trained this year because I have had several complications from "help" from customer support. I don't know why this happened, but tech support can fix it. Good luck.
  6. Amend Q4 941/payroll tax reports to remove single member from payroll reporting.
  7. Downgraded from TTO to Max this year because I haven't been impressed with Kleinrock Research. I have what I need with a little help from RIA. I did not receive the 1040 Quick Answers until 2 days ago after e-mailing customer support every day since early February. Asked them what they were going to do about it and have received no reply. I've been using ATX since switching from ProSeries over 10 years ago. Didn't like the Intuit price and auto entry fields that I couldn't track back. Just couldn't figure out where the numbers came from. Still like the ATX program, but customer service is just bad and tech support is good after I wait for more than 30 minutes to be screened for several more minutes before I am tranferred to a techie. Seems they would have my customer info on screen to see that I've been around for a while and only call for real problems. I'm just tired and frustrated - not a good time to make a very important decision about software.
  8. What about an addition to an older home? Does the new construction of the addition qualify for windows, doors, insulation?
  9. Read the reference and still don't see that new construction/addition qualifies for first part of credit - insulation, windows, doors. Been searching...seems so simple...must be missing something.
  10. Also, if office is not separate from home, but in home, than there will be no allocation of sales price, just depreciation allowed/allowable if office is used for two years prior to sale.
  11. Yes, I would. I miss my super support, and I have not yet received the print copy books included in my software order. I still like the software, but what good is it without good tech support? I like the forms based approach - I am a techie, and like to follow the flow. I used ProSeries long ago and was frustrated by not being able to see where my entries came from...I am a long time user, and sad to see the CCH "upgrades".
  12. IT 203-B NR/PY Res Alloc/College Tuition Itemized Deduction is hard to find this year. Only way I know to open it is: IT203>Allocation Worksheet>Line 1, Column C>bunny click>jump to NY IT 203-B. Don't think the form is available to open directly. Go figure. I live in northern tier of PA, so I use this often...Hope it helps.
  13. Not silly question, been at this for 32 years, and still have to stop and look up some very basic things. Gee, do you think being very tired has anything to do with it? One LLC can umbrella various business activites, so you should only need one Schedule C for the LLC.
  14. Form 2553, file by March 15 for calendar year taxpayer, effective current year, not retroactive.
