  1. Pricing is on atx website. Premier is extra.
  2. Same here - do you think the same people are working on this website as the healthcare site?
  3. 12.17 is now available - yikes - any takers?
  4. For those using Parker Tax Publishing - what are you using for the State returns you are preparing. I know the TaxBook's WebLibrary gives the user access to an all-states edition which includes answers to the state's unique income tax rules. Thanks for your feedback
  5. Only 1 or 2 crashes entire season - stand a lone system - small practice - crashes occurred when changing printing options - otherwise not that bad. Hoping they get it all ironed out - love the product and price point.
  6. Employer and payroll company messed up young man's W-2 in 2011; IRS is holding refund pending getting it corrected. In the meantime, the young man has become my client, gets married and wants to file a joint return for 2012. Clients are owed a refund for 2012 - will IRS intercept it or can they not touch it because of the joint nature? Any insight on where to look would be helpful - thanks.
  7. I sent the following email to ATX: "How do I access the board? I am logged in under client ID xxxxxx. My user name is ADMIN and my password is xxxxxxx. Once logged in - I click on ATX communities at the top - I get the following: Welcome to the ATX Communities Discussion Group! Share information, answers and tips with your fellow ATX Users on these discussion boards. Your Community Board Name is MDCPA. When I click on "Go to ATX Communities button" - it takes me to the MY ATX Solutions Center. From here I click on community board it takes me right back to the support center: ATX Communities Welcome to the ATX Communities Discussion Group! Share information, answers and tips with your fellow ATX Users on these discussion boards. Your Community Board Name is MDCPA. HELP - thanks." It is a circular mess - any ideas - oh yeah - they haven't gotten back to me!
  8. I don't believe that TaxAct has any conversion capabilities so not very practical chouce at this late date
  9. taxtrio - thanks for your response - I have added my suggestion to their suggestion box.
  10. Is there a way to print a report that lists all clients that have a particular form in their return l.e. a report of all clients that have a 4562?
  11. Ken - may I contact you after tax season about your impressions of Paperless Plus?
  12. Interested in finding out which scanners work best with PaperlessPlus. Also, your thoughts on the PaperlessPlus product - thanks.
  13. I had this problem as well. First I must say I print one client at a time, so the solution I stumbled upon may not be a fix for everyone. Under the options tab, in the return manager, click on preferences - then the print tab to the left - uncheck the box next to "Print return in one print job" This worked for me, but like I said, I only print one client at a time - hope this helps.
  14. What scanner are you guys using with PaperlessPlus?

    Severance Pay

Thanks Taxbilly - I've been talking to the client and they will be bringing more information to me, but it sounds like this situation is almost identical to the article - again thanks
  16. Client gives me a 2009 1099-MISC with an amount in box 7 and I asked what is this for - he told me it was for severance pay. In addition, he had a W-2 from the same company. I have never run into severance pay on a 1099 - is this correct and if yes is it subject to SE tax?
  17. see IRS website link and publication 1635: IRS Link
  18. Are you a member of the local chamber of commerce or any civic groups - most small business owners, in my area, are members of the Chamber and at least one civic club. Also you could meet with the local banks so that they get to know you better. Hope this helps.
  19. Thanks to all who responded-great info- but that's what I've come to expect from this board.
  20. Anyone have an outline of the process they would recommend or have used - i.e. things to consider, record retention, scanning software, efiling, etc. Yes, I'm still one of those with paper everything so I need all the help I can get. I am enrolled with IRS and have my EFIN although I have never efiled a return. The saving grace, if there is one, is that its a very small practice - less than a 100 clients, but still soo many file cabinets.
  21. Braeden - we need you to respond to the TRX thread TRX now offering ATX

  22. One option to get you close would be to take the amount of used space on your hard drive as KC explained above, and subtract the total of the programs listed in the "add/delete programs" section in control panel.
  23. There is also a definition (at the site mentioned in post before) explaining what a qualified pension plan is.
  24. This is from the PA Department of Revenue's website: "Is retirement or pension income subject to Personal Income Tax? Question: What retirement or pension income is subject to state and local taxes? Answer: As long as you retire and receive distributions from a qualified pension plan by either meeting a years service or age requirement in the plan, your retirement income is not taxable for state purpose. Local taxes are not administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue but by local taxing authorities. You will need to contact your local tax authority for assistance. If you do not know who your Local Tax authority is, this information may be obtained by visiting the Department of Community and Economic Development web site at http://munstatspa.dced.state.pa.us/Registers.aspx" Additional help at www.revenue.state.pa.us/ - click on Individual taxpayers, then on commonly asked questions and then search for pension - hope this helps.
