Schedule EIC

In the old days we could delete a form and reload it but not now. It's all or nothing.

This problem bothered me for 5 days and couldn't get through to tech support, only to customer support which is worthless.

I saw Sch C and EIC in my forms list but when I would try to add them it said there were not installed.

5 days waiting for over an hour each day but this morning after an hour and a half wait along came Charlie at tech support.

In 10 minutes time with him I had a solution.

The solution was in changing an item in the program files.

I'd be carefull doing this, but this is what I was instructed to do:

Go to C:program dataCCHSmall Firm Services Atx2012Assets.

You will see a file called 2012. I had to change the name to 2012.old.

This keeps the file available in case of emergency.

What this did was remove every form installed and require the software to reinstall every form.

150mb and 1060 forms later I had a software program that resembled what I ordered when I signed up for another year. It actually worked!

Started running slow at first but I figured none of the forms had ever been opened before.

Runs pretty good now.

Updating or re-installing the program did not solve the problem.

Good luck.

It only solves the missing forms problem to my knowledge. It just replaces all of the forms in the program.

Software seems to run ok. It does shut down at times which it did before I did the forms changeover. Maybe 12.5 will do the trick.

I didn't want to wait to see if 12.5 would fix my form problem as it wasn't listed in their "Blog" of what 12.5 would fix.

I am running Win XP Pro. I cannot find that "assets" folder. Meantime I have prepared several more returns (all rolled over from last year) and after the rollover the box that pops up with the forms listed that are not ready, Sch EIC is one of them. 8867 is available. Has anyone actually been able to load Sch EIC yet?

Try using your windows "search" feature to find it. It even searches hidden files.

I have the 2012 program loaded in xp and found assets that way. It was in Documents and settings.

I didn't try deleting it as I have no forms installed and no internet for this computer to load any. Only what came on the cd.

Earlier (above) I told you that deleting "assets" and reloading all the forms fixed my forms problem but my system is windows 7 not xp.

The same fix MIGHT work but it might not.

Be very careful...

So I tried this and I still can't find it. I used to be good at figuring this stuff out. What happened to me? Too much beer and stuff back in the 70's?

No I can't find it or pull it up either. I think its hidden. I have standalone Win XP SP3. Is there a way on XP to unhide all these hidden files ?? Search function was no help. Maybe if you tell me how to unhide all the files on my XP, these CCH files will come to light. Thank you.

@ FL TM,

For file searching issue - check this post:

For WinXP hidden files issue - follow this path:

Open a window (f.e. My computer) -> Tool -> Folder option -> View (second tab) -> search for "Show hidden files and folders" radio button under Advanced settings menu.

Good luck.

Thank you so much, Mr Tax Man 60601 !!!

Before your advice, I could not find the pathway that many have said are there. ATX had hidden these files.

Before your advice all I could see was:

C:documents and settingsall users......there was NO Application data file folder.

Afterwards taking the hidden button off, the trail continued:

all users.......application dataCCH small firm servicesATX2012Assets2012Masters

I think inside the Master folder are the forms in 3 separate folders: Original, Revised and Patches.

I will have to do more research on this.

THANKS AGAIN

U R welcome! :)

Hope this may help many more.

Fellows, check your Client Letters preferences, check your default printer, check your default internet browser - should be IE8 min.

Keep trying.

As Jack says, patience is the word of the day!

Believe, stay calm and keep smiling - it doesn't worth to waste your life for such things! :D
