Jack from Ohio
I'm confused or misunderstanding....but doesn't the name and SS number of the refund have to match the banking information? The IRS does NO matching of any kind to direct deposits. Hence the ability of the identity thieves to steal hundreds of millions.... Many banks do not check at all either. That is each bank's choice. Again, how do you think the identity thieves get away with it so easily? Apathy, pure and simple.
easytax
When direct deposit was being first pushed --- clients name and social, etc. HAD TO MATCH, etc. or the banks/credit unions, etc. could not accept the deposit. As other aspects of our government change and are not enforced --- today there appears to be no requirements other than the routing and account numbers.
