Is there any feature where we can create labels for the 1099's? I don't have the special envelopes that fit the uniform. kcjenkins Posted January 17, 2008 Report Share Posted January 17, 2008 You can use window envelopes that you buy at Office Max, Staples, etc, that have the REQUIRED notice on the envelope. "Important Tax Information" must be on the envelope, but the office supply stores have them in packs of 25, with the windows spaced for the form. That is REQUIRED on the envelope I never knew that...I reviewed the 1099-MISC instructions, I don't see it in that...where on earth is this rule printed? lydia33 Posted January 19, 2008 Report Share Posted January 19, 2008 I just looked at my envelopes that I order from Nelco and they all have that on them. The single, double window letter size and the w-2 mailing envelopes, but I did not know that either. Yesterday I got some junk mail that had that on it, too. HA HA I use a computer checks envelope to mail 1040-es in. They line up just fine with the mailing label the program prints out. Do you think it should say that on the outside? I believe that phrase is under statement mailing requirements for 1099-Div, 1099-OID, 1099-PATR, and forms reporting royalties is it not? Does it apply to 1099-MISC forms and W2's....? Easy enough to add to a label ...like I said I don't have the envelopes. Does anyone know how to get 1099 recipient addresses into a format that one can print...perhaps through excel or something? JohnH Posted January 23, 2008 Report Share Posted January 23, 2008 I haven't been able to figure out how to get the data into an Excel spreadsheet to print labels, but one way (very inelegant) is to print an extra copy of each receipient's Uni-Form, cut out the address with scissors, and tape it to the envelope.
