  1. Another smallish help is to defrag your hard drive. I try to remember every month or so and it does seem to help.

  2. Enter the sale the way you think it should be, then go to the tax worksheet and follow it through carefully so you know that you're getting the correct result. With the Sch. D open click on 'Pages & Worksheets' and select 'Tax Worksheet (Sch D (1040), 8949).

  3. I don't know, it's just kinda one of those years. For example, last week, I had already e-filed two clergy returns, then the 3rd one I did, I got that message about clergy worksheets not being approved. Somehow, it went away after I closed the return and re-opened it. I sometimes picture the tax gods / software gods laughing at me. And, have mercy, I did a partnership return, and it took longer to watch the software work to save it than it did for me to do it. And, if you have to re-create the e-file, might as well get up and get a snack. Some days it's just not worth chewing through the restraints.

  4. When I get bogged down with a return, I set it aside and do some that I think will go quickly. This lets me get some work 'finished' before going back to the other.

  5. But Rita is totally correct, we should not have to know a client's phone number in order to complete their tax return. Some people, even today, do not even have a phone number. Others just do not want their phone number on documents that pass through many hands. Isn't this still a 'free country'?

  6. We will all miss KC, and not just for her tax knowledge! But I know she will not regret the time she spends with her husband, and I hope she will stop by to say Hi once in a while.
