  1. OK - - just got back - - -PASSED - - YAY - - Personally -- 70% of the exam was pretty clear - -forthright - -easy to find the correct answer if you weren't sure. 30% was either in teh Circular 230 - -or soooooooooooooo ambiguius, that I thought after 30 yrs in the business, I had every question imaginable - -but there were a few I had NEVER come up with. Go for it people!

  3. Finished at 2:20 and PASSED!!! :D :D Advice as follows: Read Circular 230 slowly and carefully. Read Pub 17 slowly and carefully. Do NOT overthink the 20-25 AMBIGUOUS questions! If you have 5 or more years doing 50 or more personal tax returns, the test will be easily passable. The questions are not worded nearly as precisely and carefully as the E.A. exam questions. Now I only have the one E.A. exam to take. I took this exam so I can use both titles when I advertise and on my business cards. The public seems to understand the new RTRP designation, but are still confused by E.A.

  4. I'd agree with the advice on getting the lawyer, but also, would add that the Fed C and the State C should be the same, or with easily explained state differences, so giving them both should not be an issue, but giving client data makes zero sense to me, so I'd only give them access to what my lawyer told me to give them. And I'd want the notification to come from the taxing authority, not the CPA that says that they hired.

  5. This was my scenario almost exactly. If you are familiar with the 17 and you know how to use a mouse, looking up answers for verification or just because; is easy enough. Just stay calm, and read the questions carefully. They do give you a run down on how the whole thing operates, which you can read before the clock starts ticking. I also had time left over to go back and check. I wish everyone taking this test the very best of luck. I was a wreck for two days before and pretty spacey for two days after.

  6. Agree TOTALLY with jainen. Don't attempt to be a hero. Verify, then get help. In the meantime, say nothing to them AT ALL until you talk to the attorney.
