  1. I think you have to synchronize JB....Otherwise that could happen all tax season.

  4. From Drake Software: IRS will officially announce in a press release today that filing season has been delayed. Here are the particulars: E-file for individual (1040) returns will begin on January 30th, delayed from January 22nd. There will be a “controlled launch” the week before that when we can send some live returns … that was delayed from January 14th. We do not know when or how many returns can go. Some forms will not be accepted when e-file starts on the 30th … it is anticipated that returns with those forms can be filed beginning in late February or early March. IRS expects to release that list of forms today. IRS has not set a date for when they will accept business returns, which was originally scheduled for January 7th. It is expected that business returns will start around the same time as individual returns. This impacts paper return processing as well. IRS will NOT process any paper returns prior to e-file start date. In fact, forms and instructions with the new legislative changes will not be released until January 22nd. So, most returns prepared prior to that date would not be valid anyway.

  5. Just saw on the ATX"community" page that an update on the 10th might fix the slow problem. Hey KC have not been here in a while, hope all is well! I did pass my RTRP test in October.

  6. Seems the early test filing is something like January 14th - January 17th, so some returns would be acknowledged earlier than the 18th. I don't know if ATX is participating in early e-file.

  7. I just had a lady call ans want ME to access HER W-2 from her employer web site so I could file her taxes tonight and give her a refund check tomorow...."I don't offer RALs" and we can't actually file your return yet Then I get the usual "but I saw on TV where {insert Tax Prep Company Name Here} could do it today and I could walk out with a check. I hate this time of year and constantly explaining to prospective clients that what the other places are offering is actually a loan...that comes with a price.

  8. I fired a long-time PITA client in November over a minor payroll issue. It's always been a pretty ample fee; but never been worth the aggravation and hours spent. I am starting out this tax year with peace of mind that I don't have to deal with her. I went online yesterday because I still have access to her accounts and see that both her 4th Quarter payroll and November sales tax were filed late. "Good". I am not a spiteful person in any sense of the word, but she always knew better than I did and any little thing that went wrong was my fault. Now she will have to find a new whipping post, but I am out of it., and will not reconsider.
