  1. Thanks Paul. I think it has something to do with the "Save Selections" because when I was printing I checked that box and then it stopped working. I basically did the above by trial and error and it worked. Tom Modesto, CA

  2. I was as well. It almost sounds like the preparer is supposed to sign it for the client. Even with a POA on file, I would NEVER, EVER do that!

  3. My site, through CPA Site Solutions, comes with a secure file portal that we have found very easy to use. YMMV.

  4. https://www.irs.gov/e-file-providers/submitting-the-electronic-return-to-the-irs "Although holding late returns during periods when IRS electronic filing is not available is not stockpiling, providers should mail the returns to the IRS mailing addresses in the form’s instructions." It's not stockpiling, and I would e-file it. I don't think SS will have had time to close out the SSN, but you'll find out. Finally, I don't think this provider is mailing any returns for her clients, and I'm kind of scratching my head at that one.

  5. My website from CCH's SiteBuilder includes FileShare, a simple portal that works fine for my biz at no additional cost. CCH also offers a more robust portal. Try a demo of CCH's products first, if you use ATX. If neither of those work the way you work/your clients work, then see if your email or phone or accounting software or...has something already included or available in your budget.

  6. you have to go to the "Detail" tab worksheet and at the far right is the column to enter "X" for whichever 1099 you want to print. Definitely a few extra steps than in the past which is a pain but I was worried they got rid of the functionality so sign of relief there's something in place for all the replacements we end up producing in February and March
