  1. The IRS beginning this month, eliminated faxing of transcripts. They will be sent by mail unless you request delivery to the IRS online mailbox. If you have a 2848, or 8821 on file, you can access the mailbox, which has a nice beaurocratic name, (Secure Object Repository [SOR]), by logging in on the e-services page. The login button is at the lower right of the page. They can then be downloaded, or printed. It takes about 3 hours for the transcripts to be delivered to the mail box. I find it superior than fax as they can be selected in order and also do not have cover pages.

  2. I hate it when high income people show up at my office wanting to pay me to work. As a small business owner it's sort of a nightmare scenario to be paid.

  3. I have a client that I hear from about every 3 or 4 years. I charge a steep amount and payment up front as I prepare each year. You can get transcripts for current year and then 3 years back.. I understand you can call their automated number or file the 4506 form for the prior years. If you take this client on be good to yourself (pricing) and don't let client slow you down. If he's 8 years behind he's a grand procrastinator so get ready for some tough love.

  4. Are you referring to gifts made with in 3 years of death? They are generally not included unless the decedent retained a life estate, made a revocable transfer or the transfer was effective upon death. Claw back is a concern when there is an increase in basic exclusion subject to sunset. For example taxpayer gifts $10 million in 2019 excluded under TCJA but dies in 2026 when exclusion reverts to $5 million. IRS has proposed rule to resolve that issue.

  5. Mine was exposed but my wife's wasn't. I claimed my allotment last Thursday. I highly recommend you put a freeze on your credit reports. It takes a little while and may be an inconvenience if you need to open new credit but it is a really good idea and free. KEEP THE PIN THEY GIVE YOU to unfreeze later. It's highly unlikely your ID will be stolen if your credit accounts are frozen. Capital One Credit Cards was hacked and 100 million people had their information leaked. This is not going away anytime soon. Your data is likely >90% to be available for purchase on the dark webs.
