  1. I'll try: For 2018 the TPs filed MFJ with 3 qualifying kids. EIP 1 was paid to them before the 2019 returns were filed. So that meant they were eligible to get EIP 1 of $3900- (1200+1200+500+500+500) based on 2018 filing. Each now single partner reports exactly half of what sent. That is $1950. (3900/2) So that looks correct. Some confusing elements- You say "They got the first stimulus ..." then you say "... she never got .. the first payment." ?? Also, not sure why the other party is saying their EIP 1 was $2,200. I'm seeing confusions also among my post-EIP-divorced clients. Miscommunications, misunderstandings, closed bank accounts, new addresses, mailed checks not received. Confusions ....

  2. When I e-filed the amended 2019 returns, on the Form e-filed, 1040X showed up but when creating the e-file only 1040 showed as an option. Perhaps that has changed since January. I just know it worked fine.

  3. I see in the efiled forms tab that it seems like everything is included, even forms that don't have any changes. Maybe that's a good thing, will never miss anything as with a mailed packet. Attachments are very easy as they also show on efiled forms tab. I've also tracked one and it showed up in their system within in a reasonable timeframe, I think a week or 2.

  4. Not possible unless you have access to Hermoine Granger's time-turner gadget. A good rule of thumb as clients get older, for sure.

  5. Just make sure you open the original return (or the return that you did not prepare but enter the data as originally e-filed) then choose Amend. I believe that is the preferred way rather than duplicating though not sure why. Also note that when ready to e-file, 1040X will not show up as an option: it will show 1040. After submitting, you will see in the documents filed that the 1040 AND the 1040X will have been sent. Went very easily with mine once I realized no 1040X will show to e-file. Good luck, let us know when to celebrate your success - we need every celebration we can get!

  6. I am not crazy at all about filing a return that is not correct in that regard either. IRS might take longer to sort it out than a paper file.

  7. Years ago when I worked at a firm, I did the accounting and taxes for a place here in Wilmington DE called "The Stamp Center" that is now called "Dutch Country Auctions". The owner at the time was Keith Marsh who is now listed as a senior appraiser. They buy, sell, appraise, handle consigned pieces. https://dutchcountryauctions.com/about-us/
