Which phone company doesn't collect user information? When we had a landline, Southwestern Bell would send us a monthly bill showing all of the people we called long distance, when we called them and the duration of the call. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess they had all that data on local calls and didn't disclose it since they didn't bill for it. Your cell phone company knows when and where you ping off any cell tower in the country / world. We had a guy locally who was convicted because his car kept track of everywhere it was driven, speeds driven, when it was driven and sent to the manufacturer. The police used it to figure out where he buried his wife.

I've reminded clients to continue to track their itemized deductions even if they use the higher standard deduction because the current law expires after 2025. We won't know what they'll do until they do it. Ha.

Mine is in there too. The baddies had at least 4 months head start and there is no mass news of issues. Normal protections and monitoring should be fine, as well as realizing your ssn has not been reliably for many many years.

After decades of ignoring the fraud and extortion of online review "services", I have tired of the ramifications of not fighting back. Thus, I will be offering links to customers to "review" sites and asking them to post their reviews. Rather than paying for fake reviews or wasting time trying to get fraudulent and extortion reviews removed, I am hoping real reviews will outnumber the fakes taking the power away from the fraudsters. The tipping point was a longtime customer telling me they were leaving because of a review they noticed (which was an extortion attempt - the "I posted a bad review, pay me and I will remove it" type).
