  1. Today, we worked this out. Because of my illness last year, we were worried that nobody would be able to get into my main computer. When the program is open, go to Tools; select Security Manager; Click new. Enter a user name different from yours. Enter a user password different from yours. Select the group to which the new user will be assigned, from the Available groups. Click Add--> to move the group to the Groups pane. Click OK. Close the Program. Have the new user come to your computer and open in the usual way. She signed in with her new User Name and New Password. This brought the scan box up. In the lower right corner she clicked the plus sign. She entered her user name. She scanned the program with HER phone; which brought up a second code to use with MY computer. Bingo! It opened. It gave her another code on her phone just as the similar process gave me a second code to open the Payroll Program. I recommend that everyone does this because if something happens and you or your phone are not available, nobody will be able to have access to your program and files.

  2. Ok, I finally called support. Wasn't too long on hold. The rep walked me through how to access the QR code again. That's what I needed. I only need one authenticator app on my phone but I needed two QR scans. Now I have two separate codes for the two different programs. So I can get into both programs now. Hopefully once I do this a few times, it will be easy. Ha. Thanks for all the help.

  3. Like the one below that I recently shared. Sorry it's so big. Look at the "a" in the portion for "bank" in each of the examples. Best practice is to never ever click a link in an email and never respond to a fraud phone call from a bank or credit card company that calls you because the thief can spoof the caller i.d. Always place the call yourself using the number on the back of your credit card or monthly statement.

  4. Like $200,000+? These scams are getting good and I've gotten called a few times and it worries me I'll fall for them when I get older. I hang up on them quickly but the old standard that you can look at the email address and figure out it's a scam is pretty much gone. Some of those emails are shockingly good looking and the email addresses are spoofed / say the name of the company.

  6. Can you share what you learned and what needs to be done so others can learn from what you did, and it will be documented here?

  7. Well that's going to suck for people in larger offices that might use different computers.

  8. The device is paired with the desktop. We tried it using her access to the computer that she uses and it didn't work. You have to open the Tax Program and prepare it from within the Program under Tools. I found it in the Knowledgebase Article Number: 000229080 "How do I creaate or add a new user when using ATX"

  9. That may be true when using the app to access websites, but I wonder if there is an additional security layer of device centric pairing built into the ATX software or some sort of syncing that would be necessary. mcb39's experience seems to indicate that the former is the case. I don't have multiple computers any more to test on.

  10. That totally makes sense and is a very good idea too.
