  1. If both income and support tests are passed, would son not be qualifying relative?
  2. 34-year old son lives with my client all year....No income, not disabled....client (mother) pays all expenses. Can mom claim son as dependent? HOH?
  3. I electronically file returns for a couple and their two older kids every year....every year all refunds go to the same account number. This year....Parent's federal refund went OK, kids' federal and Ohio refunds were received OK, but parents received a letter from Ohio stating that their refund could not be deposited directly into their checking and a refund check would be mailed to them.....no reason provided in the letter except that account number was incorrect. Has anybody else experienced this? If so, what was the reason for the bank rejecting this particular deposit? I checked and all routing and account numbers were the same as previous years...all the same on the three returns.
  4. I do not know about the Santa Claus thing...but I have also had (and still have) this annoying problem.
  5. I made a favorable comment regarding ATX price and quality a year or two ago....ATX used it in CPA magazine, I believe. I just received an e-mail from ATX wanting my permission (waiver) for them to use the comment again on their next sales brochure. The waiver, in part, gives them completely unlimited ability to change the comment, both in detail, and/or meaning as they see fit. I think not They cannot answer our e-mail requests for tech support, but they can e-mail me for crap like this?!
  6. also like the sweet honey glaze....its messy...but boy, is it good!
  7. Client is a school teacher, but is also in the national guard and once every month drives 202 miles (round trip) for drill. I assume this is deductible business mileage?
  8. I tried to insert my ballcock last night...it was too big....no matter what angle I tried, it would just not fit in the hole......I guess size really does matter! Well...back to Lowe's today to see if I can get a smaller ballcock...I just never thought I'd be asking for a smaller one.
  9. ....and this board loves you too zeke
  10. Yeah...I just ended up with my hand stuck to my ballcock...I looked pretty silly when my 7:00 appointment walked in!
  11. I like how when you heat it up, it tastes even better than it did the first time!
  12. Not even frikkin duck tape would have held up to the abuse being suffered by my ballcock
  13. Tell me about it.....I still had not figured out all of the minor adjustments with the old ballcock!
  14. Just wait till I tell my girlfriend....I went to Lowe's and purchased a new ballcock....bigger and better than the old one ...If only I could find someone to help me install it....
  15. I do not think a filer in the sutuation you describe falls into this category....I believe they are referring to people whos only source of income is non-taxable Social security. I have e-filed several returns for clients similar to the one you describe....all accepted with no problems
  16. Thats the problem...the fluids won't stop flowing....Had to shut the water off
  17. FYI....Last night I broke my ballcock
  18. I received Ok this morning around 6:45am....Not at home now, so cannot check.
  19. Son pulled paperwork and confirmed it was indeed a note purchased for $100,000...So client has a capital loss...partially rolling over to next year.
  20. It was amazing!...and provided a few much-needed breaks from my computer!
  21. I can contact her son (he dropped her stuff off to me) but he lives out of town and is hard to contact because he works 2nd shift. I will leave him a message and tell him what I need. I am not sure he has power of attorney....if not, he needs to get it quick...for many reasons.
  22. I think they are active....I would not remove "active" status from a landlord solely based on the fact they run it through a management company. It sounds like they "activily" make decisions that affect the rental and even physically go there on occasion.
  23. I agree with Bart...I would not have a problem with giving this credit to the parents
