    OH ACKs

Thanks Booger....Just wanted to make sure it was not just me.....At least we could e-file Ohio much sooner this year!

    OH ACKs

It has been several days since I received Federal ACKs and associated Ohio e-files are still in status of "IRS Cleared" Has anyone else received any Ohio ACKs....I sent an e-mail to Karen Fisk, but received an Out of Office reply stating that she would not return until 01/28....Thanks...very helpful!
  4. With all the well-deserved negative comments....I will give credit where due....This is a nice feature
  5. I know the IRS statesd that form 982 (Reduction of Tax Attributes Due to Discharge of Indebtedness) cannot be e-filed at this time....Does anyone have any idea when it will be OK to be e-filed?
  6. OK....So my phone rings, but I do not get to it in time so call goes to voice mail. It is H & R Block thanking me for using them for my tax preparation needs...and requesting that complete a brief survey....WTF!?!?
  7. Most of my clients do not have the time or the interest to choose and enter their own PIN...so I choose one for them (usually just the last 5 digits of their SSN....and enter it for them. Then I have them sign the 8879 for my records. I complete the 1040EF INFO (Part A) (Practioner PIN) and enter my ERO PIN (which I also use the last 5 digits of my SSN) and date signed. On the 8879, I have the taxpayers sign and date by their PIN that I entered. I then complete part III of the 8879, transmit their returns electronically and file the 8879 with others so that I have it if needed....although the IRS has only asked for two in the 9 years I have been e-filing.
  8. No way...Lenny the pirate would never be dumb enough to mess with tech support prior to tax season
  9. This client received it in the mail today.....After accusing me of losing it. She swore that she received it on Jan 2 and gave it to me.....She did not even apologize today when she called to tell me she received it. Man...some times dealing these bitter elderly clients can be tough....You cannot please them and they always think you charge too much.
  10. I did not receive an Ohio ACK yet...the federal is Accepted, the Ohio status is IRS cleared.....I do not understand how the Federal debt indicator can be "N", but the Ohio Debt indicator is "I"....If a debt was found in the IRS files...would they not hold the federal refund.....Maybe this means that in the IRS files they have a debt that is against the Ohio only and not the federal?
  11. I have always used strictly 1040....that way, all credits are available....why start with a 1040A or EZ...then later switch to a 1040 when you realize client fogot something and adds information?
  12. Client has Debt code of "N" for Federal but for Ohio, she has a debt code of "I"....What is "I"?
  13. I have an elderly client that cannot find her statement from Social Security (SSA-1099). Before I have her search further, Have they been sent out and received by anyone? I cannot remember if they are sent out beginning of January or near the end of the month.
  14. Lenny is not allowed in the kitchen because he smells funny As for Crazy Mary....I highly doubt that she is either bathing in the courtsquare fountain or making sauce....more likely she is "hitting the sauce" somewhere in Sidney The last time I saw Crazy Mary was a few months ago....arguing with Chaz (the guy on the corner by Woody's Market that drinks warm Corona) about the political implications of transitioning from an Autocratic to Democratic form of government
  15. FYI....I am making spaghetti with meat sauce tonight...garlic bread too
  16. COOL....but don't jiggle too much...you might hurt something
  17. Wow...Do my eyes see that OH IT 1040 is approved for filing? Can we e-file Ohio returns yet? I have several waiting...and Yes...my girlfriend is a hottie
  18. Congratulations! I am glad to hear you are both doing well
  19. I just added a comment as well....We should all let out feelings be known....May not change anything, but will make us feel better!
  20. Fine was $25.00 and court costs were $75.00. A new set of laws were passed last year in Ohio. One of them states that if under age 17, any violations within six months of receiving your license results in mandatory 6 month suspension.....Judge did not agree with it, but he had no choice...No driving until July 17th, unless I am in the car with her.
  21. Thanks to all....It helps to bounce things off of you folks....It is getting very busy very fast...with more complicated returns hitting earlier this year....I usually just get W-2 returns in January...but this year I have several still trying to take care of prior years
  22. Client was in a partnership (Event Planning business) for a few years....partners went their seperate ways this past June 2007 and former partner sent her a K-1 (which I will use in preparing her return). When partnership dissolved in June, she formed her own small business (one-person LLC...still event planning). So I, at first glance, I assume I need to do a 1065 for her current single-owner LLC, then a k-1...with that info used to do her personal 1040...which will include two Sch E (one for partnership and one for single-owner LLC. Then of course, she has rental income/expenses unrelated to the above business, so a Sch E for that....Am I missing anything big here?
  23. I agree 100%...but here is the kicker....she has no job...although she has submitted many applications....So she can not possibly pay....I assume that, until all costs are paid, she will not be able to drive....and that hurts me, not her...as I will be back to driving her around instead of doing taxes. I am hoping that the judge gives her priveleges to drive to and from school.
  24. OK...I had to share with all of you....My daughter is 16 and had her license for about a month.....she was in a minor accident...unavoidable, but she was cited for assured clear distance. I have to go to juvenile court with her tomorrow....I know I will have to pay a fine for the citation as well as court costs, but have no clue as to how much....does anybody have any idea what it might cost?
