  1. I am posting this several places to warn everyone. Please excuse the redundancy. When we click on print now, the program crashes. Loses all data in the return that is open. Tried this on 3 different workstations. On the phone with tech now. They are going to get an earful!!!

  4. DO NOT INSTALL 12.16 if you are on a network. Take this simply for what it says. NEW problems since I updated. CCH SFS developers bit the big one again!!! ATX SFS developers show the ineptness once again. We are screwed. Can't undo. Even if I do a total system remove and install (3 day process) the latest install file has 12.16 in it! Thanks again CCH!!!

  9. Is your network a domain network or peer to peer?
  10. I also post the certificates from all the training I go to. Last calendar year over 60 hours. The certs show my commmitment to staying current.
  11. I have had people say" "I don't need your assistance. I am not afraid of the IRS. I will show them!" After the first audit visit, my fee doubled to help them.
  12. One of the most stupid blunders on the part of CCH SFS is not keeping the tech support people up to date DAILY on things happening with the program. Several times I taught the tech support person something that had been posted here from the other board, but the tech support person was clueless about. Again, CCH SFS has to really step it up in a phenomonal way, or it will be an "also ran" after the next tax season. I will do my very best to let them know this as a Beta tester. Trust me, they may kick me out but I will be straight with them from a computer savvy experienced tax preparer's point of view.
  13. The other problem lies in the fact that this requirement of NOT supporting multiple users with different OS is part of the requirements of Raven for use of their DB as is noted in the rest of the statement: "After explaining the above unsupported environments, and detailing how ATX2012 makes use of RavenDB, the vendor confirmed that based on his understanding of how the application is making use of the software and of the lack of our support for the RDP/Remote Desktop scenarios, ATX is using RavenDB in a supported manner." Unless CCH SFS gets their act together with some seriously experienced developers, we will be able to build a memorial to their existance after 2013.
  14. I hate to burst your bubble, but if you refer to the first post in this thread containing information from ATX about the Raven DB, you will see the following: "We have been in contact with the RavenDB vendor and explained that ATX2012 opens the database local to the computer AND that we do not support the use of the software from multiple OS user accounts at the same time or in a Terminal Server/RDP or Remote Desktop scenario." We have witnessed this very thing live on our network. You believe whatever tech person you wish, but this is reality. This MUST be changed for networks to use the program properly.
  15. As long as only one user is working at a time, the Raven DB will work with XP. If more than one user is working at the same time and all use XP, there is no problem. The problem occurs if two or more users are working at the same time from workstations with different OS (XP & WIN 7 for example). The DB crashes one or the other or locks them up. It is a MAJOR program issue that will probably not go away. If you have multiple people working at the same time, they must all have the same OS.
  16. I will give running updates as I see them. CCH SFS would be benefited by hiring some people that have both computer skills and tax preparation experience to assist their development team. I would imagine most of the development team are young enough to be my children.
  17. ATX is still full of bugs, poor code and simply rauchy work by the development team. It is still "NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME 2013" by any standards of workability, usability and adaptability. Still a work in progress...
  18. E-mail from the man in charge of testing.
  19. Way too cumbersome for 8 preparers, support staff and 3K clients.
  20. Tax exempt and charitable are two entirely different creatures. Everyone thinks tax exempt is charitable. More low information thinking. Tom is correct in his assessment of 501( c )4 organizations.
  21. Nope. If ATX does not deal with the network issue, they will be history. I have been chosen to be a beta tester and I will be certain to give it the workout in a real world situation.
  22. As an addendum, I have a bridge I am selling. $1 per share. IPO the same day 12.16 is released.
  23. I have been chosen. I hope they do not expect me to be silent about what the program needs... If so, my tenure may be short.
  24. Her chosen profession as a teacher granted her the tax exemption. Not all get the same treatment.
