  1. I filed two on 02/05 and one still has not received their refund. It seems the EIC checklist was sent with the return even though the EIC was not taken, the return was put on hold. Called the help desk and the rep. said she sent a request to have it re-processed; that was on 3/10 still no refund.
  2. Thanks Everyone! So I adjusted the income/expenses accordingly and came up with a $75 tax and a $75 tax forgiveness. Why the program didn’t allocate correctly is beyond me and it’s to late in the season to try and figure it out. I live close to NY so I don't do to many PA returns; they are reciprocal states but I think it is only on W-2 income.
  3. So I have a Sch C customer from NJ with sch C gross of $41,943 of which $3,468 was a PA 1099MISC Net income is $29,4449 PA tax is $898???? That seem rather high. Any thoughts? Thanks
  4. So I only filed two returns with TRX simple W-2 income only. So I have a Sch. C client with 1099MISC from our home state NJ and some form NY, and DE Also a w-2 with DE and PA and PHL. I didn’t think the PA return was correct so I decided to try it with TRX. WHAT CRAP OF A PROGRAM. I cannot get it to work at all.
  5. I need clarification. If my software for year 2011 2010 is not 100% MeF I cannot file prior year returns? Correct
  6. Thanks for the correction, I found the infor in Pub 4164, page 15. current, and prior two years though some form limitations til next year.
  7. Are you sure, they may have been transmited successfully, that dosn't mean the IRS is going to send a letter asking for them to be paper filed. I'm just quoting from the IRS pub.
  8. This is from the IRS Q/A here is the link http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Frequently-Asked-Questions-about-Splitting-Federal-Income-Tax-Refunds Can I direct part of my refund into my tax professional’s checking or savings account to pay my tax preparation fee? You can direct your refund to any of your checking or savings accounts; you cannot direct your refund to someone else’s account (except for your spouse’s account, if this is a joint refund). Can I split my refund between a direct deposit and a paper check? You cannot split your refund between a direct deposit and paper check.
  9. look at page 12 of the handbook for e-file providers pub. 1345   Returns Not Eligible for IRS e-file The following individual income tax returns and related return conditions cannot be processed using IRSe-file: Other than current year tax returns;
  10. This is my understanding Previous year tax returns can’t be e-filed, but they can be prepared online No, you cannot e-file a prior year tax return. Each year the IRS shuts down their e-file system in mid-October, usually on October 15. At that point, you can no longer e-file a tax return. That means that you can only e-file a tax return between mid-January when e-file opens and mid-October when it closes, the year after the tax year in question. For example, you could only e-file a 2012 return between January 17, 2012 and October 15, 2012. Similarly, you can only e-file a 2012 return between January 30, 2013 and October 15, 2013. You will have to paper file a prior year return, which involves mailing a printed copy to the IRS. 11. I would be a new customer not a renwer and the price is $699
  12. I'd like to know that too. Also OneDesk is offering 30% off but I don't know if that is off the $499 price. I don't know how to tell who the reseller is, so how do I find that out?
  13. I'l be waiting till December before I decide.
  14. I just got "I OWE MONEY, HOW" I had X % withheld from my pay.. Well they forget if your making 100K most of your SS is taxable and all that interest and dividend that had no withholding.
  15. I just did a 2011 return using my TRX software. After using onedesk all season I find it easier to use then TRX. I keep having issues with the TRX software. I had to reinstall it and for some reason it is not displayed quite right but I'll be D _ _ _d if I call their support team. When I hit audit it show what needs correction but not the far right side where you click to ge to the page. OneDesk BETTER the TRX
  16. The IRS will use a zero cost basis and treat the 3,000 as all gain. According to the below statement 1/2 of her SS 6,000 +10,000 + 3000 = 29,000 She has to file Gross income means all income you received in the form of money, goods, property, and services that is not exempt from tax, including any income from sources outside the United States or from the sale of your main home (even if you can exclude part or all of it). Do not include any social security benefits unless (a) you are married filing a separate return and you lived with your spouse at any time during 2012 or ( one-half of your social security benefits plus your other gross income and any tax-exempt interest is more than $25,000 ($32,000 if married filing jointly).
  17. One simple question; is she doing this to make money or have fun. I can't imagine trying to sell make-up for the sheer joy of it. Unlike for example some who paints pictures because they love to paint and money is secondary? Whit all other things being equal, motive would be my deciding factor.
  18. I just looked at their web site, it appears they do not include 1041, I do at least one a year, sometimes several a year
  19. I am using it. At first it felt awkward but that was only because it was different than what I had been using for years and I had to learn it day one to file returns. For example, clicking on save every time you leave a page was a pain at first, but know I do it without even thinking. Actually I like it now because if there is an error on the page for example you left a required field plank it lets you know right then as opposed to TRX where you get all at the end and the have to go back figure it out. I like the forms link….ex. Clicking on line 7 and all the forms like W-2 that go on the line are there. At first I missed peak, but then I realized all the forms are listed on the bottom right of the screen. I miss the filling instruction form telling the customer what they owe or will be refunded, but I can live without that. I just note it on their invoice. Now the invoice was another thing, I took me a little while to figure out how to get a detailed statement but now that I have it set up, there are no problems. After e-filing you don’t get the conformation letter that TRX would produce and I missed that at first also but not anymore; I tell my customers if there is a problem I’ll let them know. In regard to e-filing, I get the status in minutes and I like the where’s my refund link, when it opens to the IRS site it has a box up top with the return info, theis SS# filing status and refund due so I don’t have to look back and forth for or write out the information. Over all it is a very easy to use program one you get used to the differences from TRX. Customer service, I find it to be very good, no long waits, if there isn’t a rep available you leave a voice mail and they do get back to you rather quickly. I found one glitch on Sch. C cost of goods sold line 39 other cost. There is a note pad that opens so you can enter the expenses, it calculates everything fine but then does not create or print out what those expenses are. I called them the end of last week and they are creating the fix. We’ll how fast we get it and I’ll post back. I have done several 1120S and one 1041 and had no issues. Lots of Sch c but only the one problem with the cost of goods sold section. Entering asset and depreciation is a little bit different then TRX but after the first time it’s a breeze. Over all I will most likely use it next year. I just will not purchase early like I did with TRX. I think they are not 100% MEF this year and that is the only concern I have. I’ll check into that and let you know.
  20. I didn't think I'd get one either. email again and cc the BBB. Remind them of how often you have requested a refund and that you requested on last June
  21. They will never have my business again, not even for free would I use their software
  22. I did that with Tax Works, what a joke. It was the 2011 software which is nothing at all like the 2012. So what the heck good did they think that demo would do me.
  23. I'm using onedesk and I did a 1041 with it and it does have 5227. The program is free this year.
  24. So I was a TRX customer and filed two returns with it before getting different software. It seems on of the returns got transmitted with form 8862 even though I did not take the EITC. Is was told by an IRS representative that all returns with form 8862 were on hold. I explained the software issue and pointed out that the EITC was not taken and she said she put in a request for the return to be reprocessed. That was on 03/14 and when I check where’s my refund it says the same thing it did two months ago; there is no progress bar. So I’m thinking of sending an amended return, but that may just make thing worse; or maybe send a 911. So any thoughts?
