  1. Just wondering if you have any clients that you would like to smack in the head because of the dumb or irresponsible things they do? I have a few. I just finished doing the 2011 and 2012 return for guy that is married with two kids 14 and 15. He does not own a home, has no medical because his wife is a nurse and gets full medical insurance. So in 2010 he gets bought out of his employment contract and gets his 401K in the amount of $556,465 He keeps $256,465 and roll overs $300,000 He’s only 50, so you know what happens. 10% penalty = $25,647 Well he thought that was all the tax he had to pay on the early withdrawal. So I explained everything to him……… On top of the early withdrawal he and his wife have W2 wages of $141,443 His taxable income was $385,180 His TAX DUE WAS $53,497. He didn’t have it so he got on an installment plan. DO YOU THINK HE LEARNED, NO! In 2011 he calls and has me file an extension then he never came in till this week. HE DID IT AGAIN; he made a $240,690 early withdrawal in 2011 And again did not request additional tax be withheld beyond the 10% penalty. So he now owes an ADDITIONAL $65,092 in taxes. I WANTED TO SMACK HIM IN THE HEAD AND TELL HIM OFF!!!!!!! In three years he blows through AGI of $734,372 and he still does NOT own a home but rents. He doesn’t have any medical expenses/insurance cost that are eating up his money, his kids are in public Scholl. He’s basically broke and I am sure in 3 and 4 years his kids would like to go to college. Would have given him a lecture? I so wanted to but bit my tongue. Do you have any irresponsible clients like this?
  2. I did, I tried to call but I couldn't get through, so I emailed THREE TIMES and they did not get back to me, so I called my credit card company.
  3. Just opened Tax Works and NJ (where I live and prepare taxes) are still not ready, they are still listing an expected date of 2/28/13 In TRX the NJ forms don't line up exp. a $28 refund is positioned in the .28 cent box.
  4. Just got this email from redgear February 14, 2013 Version 12.3.71 was pulled due to an audit error impacting Form 4562. Please watch for a newer version to be released soon. RedGear Team
  5. I was skeptical too, thought there had to some kind of a hitch. But TRX and Tax Wise but me in a bind and free was all I was able to afford. I have been filing returns with no problems. I built my client base by working cheap, a lot cheaper than anyone else. I think one desk sees a great opportunity here to pick up hundreds of new customers for next year. I think it’s a smart business move, with all us TRX customers looking for new software they can swoop in and pick us all up. Think about it.
  6. Well their salesman told me several things that were wrong, I guess he could have been wrong about that also. He did tell me if I wanted to do depreciation I needed the add on.
  7. So I'm done for this year but I'm thinking of next year. I see on their website a desktop and web based both $995. then sunder it they list some additional products; one of them is Fixed Asset Manager $249. I’m thinking that is required for depreciation. So next year’s price if it stays the same will be $1,244. Tax Works does the same thing… they have a business package but it doesn’t do depreciation so you have to buy a add on. What business doesn’t have assets and have depreciation??? Why can’t any of these companies be straight forward.
  8. The IRS website seems to state that 1120S forms could be filed starting 02/04. Has anyone heard differently? I cannot proforma my 1120S clients. NOT that I would use TRX to actually file them but I would like to compare how it does compared to my new software. TRX told me before the 4th that I couldn't proforma because the IRS hadn’t released the forms yet. Wonder what the story would be now. And wouldn’t you know it I just got a call from a 1020S client.
  9. I droped TRX. They really did me in this year and cost me big time. Found a post on this site for One Desk they are offering TRX members a year FREE!!!! I know it sounds to good to be true, but it is. I think their goal is to scoop up all us angry TRX customers and make us theirs. I started/grew my business by working cheap. So I have e-filed several returns no problems I spoke with a Daniel his direct number is 561-900-0401 He down loaded the program and did a screen share with me and showed me how to use the program. I was sceptical but it is Free so what the heck, they don't even take credit card information. http://onedesktax.com/ It's rather easy to use.
  10. I would had problems with wrong calculations also. I would not use TRX, just can not trust the program. Incorrect caculations will come back to me and reallt P-off my clients.
  11. At this point I have no confidence in TRX and would not take a chance on using the program. I tried to do a PA and NJ earlier today and it did not carry numbers and did not calculate right. That's inexcusable Also got a warning that the download may harm my computer
  12. TRX uploaded states but they DON”T WORK! So I think all the complaints to the TN Attorney General got TRX in a panic. They uploaded all the states but they are not working or at least NJ, NY and PA are not working. I just did a return for a single guy who moved to PA from NJ He had a NJ NY and PA W2's TRX only calculated the Federal return correctly. NY NJ and PA returns did not calculate at all or correctly. Be very careful and good luck. Me I will not use TRX this year or any year.
  13. Thank you. TRX dosn't the school district codes either
  14. I think TRX being under pressure got all the states uploaded even though they are not working right. What a coincidence that all the states got finished on the same day.
  15. Ok I’m in NJ, I have a client with a NJ,NJ and PA W2. I know NJ and NY So TRX PA return seems to not be working or I’m doing something wrong. He is a PY PA resident 08/01 -12/31/2012 Had PA wages of $8,508 and state withholding of $261 First the program showed “0” on every line Then I did something and the wages appeared. The return shows tax line 12 $261 and line 13 tax withheld $261 It just don’t trust that. Have you had issues with PA returns? Thanks Mary
  16. I'm new to the board because I didn't know about you till I googeled a problem about TRX. here is a link to my webpage www.TaxBreakToday.com I have been preparing taxes for over 15 year. I had doubts also, but TRX and Tax Works put me in a deep hole. I didn't want to spend more money on software before I had time to test it at a relaxed pace. I had clients waiting for their taxes, I sent one home with their Fed. only and told them I would have their state soon. The look on his face said I won't be back next year. So I figured I can do free.
  17. I'm in NJ and TRX and Tax Works do NOT have NJ forms yet. I have been able to complete and e-file Fed and NJ returns with One Desk. It's true they gave me a free year, in hopes I stay with them. They gave me a screen share and went over wvwrything with me; that's more then TRX ever did for me. The e-fle is direct to the IRS. You don't get the form to send to your clients like you do with TRX,. I'm just telling my people I will contact them if there is a problem. IT"S FREE!!! Why not try it
  18. $339.94? that dosn't include the business forms does it?
  19. So I knew Taxworks was just like TRX so I went over to their site and contacted sales I explained to the Salesman that I was a TRX customer and that 1. They changed the program and I do not like the changes 2. It is not fully functional. 3. I viewed the demo on their website and it is just like TRX from prior years. 4. I need to start filing right away. The salesman DID NOT tell me 1. The demo is nothing like the software this year 2. My state NJ is not available yet. Get this the NJ “Expected release date” is 02/28/2013 Right, like I can tell my clients that.
  20. I am not Daniel just a very frustrated tax preparer and TRX member. Onedesk wants our business and this is a sure way to get it.
  21. OK, I called onedesk tax. I spoke with Daniel his direct number is 561-900-0401 He downloaded the software and he did a screen share with and spent about an hour showing me how to use the program. I just efiled my first NJ return. TRX cannot even tell me when they will have NJ available. They gave me the full 1040 and Business for free with unlimited efiling. I think this is a smart business move, they know there are a lot of us out here that needs a new software provider. If the program is good after using it for one season they know we will be back next year. It's a great way to build/explode your client base. And it just got me out of a big jam. I recomend giving it a try. I spoke with Daniel his direct number is 561-900-0401
  22. I too will be filing a complaint ASAP. I am in NJ and they have no state returns yet. I emailed and asked for at least an ETA and this is the reply they sent me "Yes we are still updating NJ at this time and we will have it released once we finish that" What poor customer service, not even an "we're sorry for the inconvenience"
  23. So I have not been able to get through to support. I have been listening to music on the phone for about minutes. What is going on???? Anyone else having problems???
