  1. How do you remove Self Employment earnings from the calculation? It pops up as a positive adjustment even if active. Any thoughts and tips would be appreciated.
  2. I got to disagree to some extent. This happens 4-5 times per return when either opening or closing or trying to print. Do I have to go as far as disabling the firewall on router and firewall hardware and server?
  3. Can an employer take a deduction for per diem on their corporate return if they paid expenses directly to merchant? For example they pay $50 hotel room on books they debit distributions and credit cash then do an entry to debit travel expense $141 (per diem) and credit distributions.
  4. I had it happen to 2 returns. The file became corrupt and forced me to restore an earlier backup.
  5. I was talking about within ATX when the filing status is different from federal.

  8. We all have PTIN's so why can't they put a testing requirement against that for renewal purposes?
  9. Who is regulating CPA, Attorneys, and EA's that have no business doing returns?
  10. I like that almost as much as the answers on the ceiling. You know, when you ask a question and they look up at the sky.
  11. Is there a universal way to disable forms for print packets?
  12. Put the $700 on return and offset with expenses to 0 it out.
  13. Client misspoke they actually received a 1099-A not C. So they have a sale price equal to the balance on loan since it was with recourse and a basis equal to what they paid. Based on facts it looks like they have a $30000 capital loss on the foreclosure.
  14. I have seen 1099-A issued and the 1099-C was just forgotten
  15. Installed SSD HD's today loading time of program is much improved but still not fast and crisp function. I have to agree with Jack in that this will never be smooth until a 64 bit platform is developed
  16. no rental it was worst case scenario RAW LAND
  17. this person makes 250K+ a year. they bought florida lot for 500K and its only work 200K now with the equity in home I am sure they were insolvent
  18. Under what circumstances is a 1099-C not taxable? I think I know but when a client says their attorney said it wouldn't be makes me second guess myself. If it was primary residence or taxpayer is insolvent are 2 primary ways I know of. This client was told by attorney and bank agreed not to issue a 1099-C since property(vacant lot in FL) was foreclosed. I think its taxable personally and attorney was wrong.
  19. We are networked. I thought all data was stored on the network drive not the local c drive except for when working on a return. We are looking at switching out the workstation hard drives but I suppose the server needs to be SSD as well.
  20. If still employed take a loan if old 401k roll over to ira then distribute.
  21. $30000 basis 45000 deferred and 25000 taxed in current year.
  22. I think what we are doing it putting SSD(Samsung 250GB) in and installing windows and all programs on it but having a backup drive for documents and stuff to be stored on.
  23. Has anyone used an SSD drive and if so have they noticed any increase in performance?
  24. I think Jack knows a way to match the backup file name to client name. Am I right Jack?
