Interesting. This person received a check from the preparer as all funds went into their account. Preparers can charge $89 to cut someone a check?

How does it was work where preparer gets paid their fee out of the refund amount?

My mistake is that I assumed it had a built in update tool since it has no desktop.

I got off the phone with tech support (2 hours) and determined the missing file deleted itself because it was corrupt. We were unable to backup, restore or transfer the file without it crashing ATX. I hope no one else has this issue.

My money is on stupid and dishonest.

It had the preparers name, ptin, and address on the preparer section. Along with their bank account information for the direct deposit. I had no idea you could or would want to get a refund that way.

This might fix some other issues.

I clicked on restore and I have 12 files. I went to the backup folder on the server and there is a folder I created on the 25 but have no way to access the info and one today both created by doing a full database backup under the admin console.

I dont think ATX is backing up at all either. I recall last week logging into the Admin Console and doing a system backup and there still isnt anything there.

I completed a return a few days ago and it has completely disappeared from the database and I have only a handful of returns that were backed up this one being one of them but well before the day the return was prepared. If I exit a return and click save where is it saving if its not creating a backup?

Anyone using this? Is it worth using and what does it do?

I basically told them here is your outcome and if you want results like last year then you need to go see the former preparer.

I would never turn the client in I would just stop doing work for them.

Are you able to apply updates to the server? I think on our server there is no application icon. Does this sound right?

Last I heard she was informing her roommate of the issues and what the consequences are if the returns were ever examined. I honestly feel she was innocent to the actions of the preparer she kept asking what was in it for the preparer to prepare false documents. She assumed it was to keep her coming back only thing I can guess is that they might have been paid based on refund. Along with their fee there were 6-8 separate charges ranging from 10-30 dollars for processing the refund in house and issuing her one of their checks.

She graduated college in 2012 and went to the other preparer. After the appointment spoke with her parents and they told her if she did not feel comfortable and they suggested she come see me for 2013 return.
