  1. Why don't they just dig up the New Deal legistaltion and vote on that AGAIN.
  2. The IRS did their job and it's a scandal? Of the 300 screened, a whopping 75 were TeaPublican orgs. Two lost their tax exempt status and both were liberal. One was Emerge America whose mission was the get Democratic women elected to office. I'm so sick of these manufactured "scandals". AND the official in charge was a Bush appointee.
  3. Because they are two different products, maybe?
  4. If you write in a country name instead of using the list it'll also break if the country you enter isn't in the list.
  5. When the IRS needs to verify an age they cross reference the SSN in the return to whatever's in the Social Security Administration Masterfile. Same with date of death.
  6. Some states require fed information. It was explained to me that the pro forma copy is included with the state return. That's why the message says three return, 1040 proforma, 1040 and state are created but only two show up in the efile manager.
  7. It doesn't take 700,000 year old ice cores to prove something is happening to the environment. A couple summers ago the Northwest Passage through the Arctic opened for the first time in recorded history. It all melted. Does that mean Santa needs scuba gear? Iceland? Not so much anymore. Greenland? Yeah, more green. Glacier National Park? Go see it soon. It's disappearing rapidly.
  8. That IRS pub refers to Legacy e-file, not Modernized. ATX supports two prior years, same as business returns now. Nothing limited for 2011. IRS only supported bare bones for 2010 so not every return will qualify. Most states were still legacy last year so it will be hit or miss as far as which prior years states are available.
  9. Wow. You're client seriously needs to update forms. The program might be current but that message went away months ago.
  10. Could that be Code J sick pay and nontaxable?
  11. It's that wonderful Modernized Efile (MeF). If you transmit a fed and state linked return at the same time and the IRS processes the state even a millisecond before the fed return, the fed submission ID in the state return isn't recognized and the state return rejects. I've gotten into the habit of sending the fed returns and waiting for them to be accepted before transmitting the state and the State-901 rejects have stopped.
  12. ps. i didn't notice any health question. Bonus!
  13. I looked at the app and daunting would describe it, if you're a fifth grader. The reason it's so many pages is because it includes two pages per preson, up to six members of household. And it has all of four or five questions per page. It would be a great addition to a tax software package since it does ask a few income questions. Tricky stuff like how much money will you make next year. The more detailed pages are similar to the Massachussetts Schedule HC without all the boxes to check. You have to be able to read at at least an 8th grade level to figure out how to determine if you fall within acceptable limits for the subsidy but I didn't notice any tables so couldn't work it out for myself. It is only a draft.
  14. I thought the extra page for the spouse would only be used if both the filer and spouse had received the credit individually before marriage and both had repayment obligations after.
  15. Not a bug. The software prints each page 1 based on the box, A, B or C selected, does all the sorting, instead of having to create multiple copies of the 8949. It worked the same way last year.
