  1. I guess we'll see what we will see.
  2. I'm not sure it's the same thing but I have a two member LLC that is the single member of several one member LLCs. In ATX, I use the 1065 return for the two member LLC. then I have the other single member LLCs that are disregarded. But Ky requires a return (plus $175 annual fee) for each LLC. I usually just print those out for the client to mail. But I can actually efile them per Ky. In order for me to do so, I have to open a separate return for each. I just think it is easier for me to keep all in one return (or at least all the single member LLCs in one return) and not bother efiling them.
  3. I don't trust the Forms. I think the tuition box is the amount of tuition charged. But the scholarship amount could be for more than just tuition, that is, room and board. You'll have to dig deeper.
  4. I haven't looked. Seems like I saw a headline about that as one of the proposals. But there are proposals, then there are what's actually in the bill. Let's see what the Senate passes and the House/Senate joint or compromise bill.
  5. I thought I saw a headline this morning that the bill has passed the whole House. But doesn't it still have to go through the Senate? I usually wait for it to become law. Then we'll get some info and summaries and the IRS can start working on the forms and processing of it all.
  6. Like my old accounting professor used to say, 'Old accountants never die, they just get out of balance.'
  7. I remember all the names. But I don't always remember what happened to them. I think KC retired.
  8. I just logged into my 2024 ATX Tax program and it required me to use the authentication code. I previously had it as keep me authenticated. Anyone else see this or was this just something that happened to me?
  9. I keep reminding myself, I'm healthy today but tomorrow or next year, who knows.
  10. That's what I'm thinking too. Just keep myself in their system.
  11. Lucky for me, I don't have to do too many appointments. The annual eye exam, regular dental exam. I should I suppose go to my GP for a physical (I think they call it a Wellness Exam now). The last time at my GP, she said after three years, they consider me a new patient. So I guess I should try to get in within the threee year limit. Ha.
  12. And so it goes. My office phone is a landline. I have given my cell number to a few clients. Some clients try to text my office number and of course, they can't text a landline. Then there is the 'e' everything. Oh well, what can I do, go with the flow.
  13. That's true. But when I do over pay a little, I just carry it forward.
  14. Yes, I do too. They have the 1099NEC. What else do they need. I can understand expense verification and net profit. But whatever. Just answer and wait for them to followup.
  15. I usually don't like to set this up too close to the filing deadline. If eary on, I do it for a few client who request it. Most of my clients are ok with refunds being directly deposited but if they owe, they choose to send a check. We'll see how it goes for next year when they put through the new requirements (or change their minds).
  16. I'm with you two. I just copied a doc I had showing the points needed. I made a few notes, wrote my name on top and put NA in a few places. That was my WISP. Like mcb39 said, if it's not good enough for them, so be it. Hey, it's a WISP.
  17. Doesn't the K-1 input sheet have a place for this? That is, prior year info if this is your first year for the client. If this client is a continuing client, doesn't that info rollover?
  18. I usually only work a half day today. Take tomorrow off. Back on Thursday but I probably won't get much done. Fridays off the rest of the year. Semi-retired the rest of the year.
  19. For ATX users, is anyone able to efile the state equivalent of Fed 1041. The KY 741 is not able to be efiled. I have put in a request to ATX for several years to make this available. Ky does allow efiling of 741 and other tax prep software has it available. But not ATX. I was wondering about other states.
  20. Into the land of Mordor.
  21. I have a client (one shareholder S Corp and his personal return) who has been behind. In late 2024, we completed 2020 and 2021. Had to be paper filed. I haven't heard from him since but now the busy season is over, I'll remind him to get me the 2022 and 2023 quickly so we can get 2024 before the extension due date. We'll see.
  22. I saw that too. I don't think the exceptions for fiscal year apply for my client. Probably going to have to go with calendar year.
  23. I understand the trust chooses a calendar year or fiscal year with the first return filing. I also understand that when the trust gets a Tax ID number, the choice of calendar year doesn't matter. It is when you actually file the first return. Does this also apply to an extension request? In other words, the calendar year due date is approaching, if I send an extension request for the calendar year, can I still choose a fiscal year when the first return is actually filed?

    Crash

Ha, I have no idea what you're talking about. I said I was not a techie. That to me is techie.

    Crash

I'm not a techie or as techie as some of you. I don't even want to open the back and dust it out. I'm on my 5th tax season with my current computer. I was waiting for Win12 but I don't know if they're coming out with that or not. I'm currently on Win10. I plan to get a new computer later this year even if it's Win11. I guess my new computer will be better to upgrade to Win12 if they do come out with it.
