  1. I have seen other prepares put amount on 1040c-ez and a like amount on expense line and then enter on 1040 line 21 where prizes are supposed to be. They said this way IRS computers matched up to where they would be looking for the 1099 to be. I would probably ask issuer to correct. Unless it is disguised wages.
  2. I saw this happen to one of my returns. Looked at direct deposit box. Had marked the wrong one. There are two of the direct deposit indicators on the efile page. You may want to recheck that you have the correct box checked. I do not use ANY bank products period. Just my 2 cents worth.

    Billing

IN 2008 and back as far as I can remember if I made an adjustment directly on the forms statement, it changed the bill amount at the top of that page. In 2009 the bill total was not on that page but did recoginize the adjustment on the invoice amount. When I looked at the bill total formula in 08,09,10 on the master forms excell sheets the formula ia changed. I REALLY don't want to mess with this formula. I can live with this other way but I preferred the OLD way. Thanks to all who provide insights.

    Billing

KC I have the By Form.schedule always display list of forms on forms statement and display total on Forms statement. If I make an adjustment right on the forms statement itself it does not seem to change the total at the top of that forms statement. Do I have to many boxes checked? Thanks
  5. Rehash if you please. Per Va tax department this AM they advised that the DCN number on their form VA-8879 should be the same as the IRS DCN number. However ATX support said NO they don't have to be the same. I guess if Return #1 gets #1 and state return gets #2 then the next fed return would get #3 and so on. You suppose IRS will be looking for the missing DCN numbers in between? and is ATX right or is the state right? Anybody got an idea? Thanks
  6. Have tp who had a stroke. Left nursing home after rehab. Still has problems. Moved into a private home paying rent and hired round the clock persons(CNA) to help him. Bookkeeper paid these people and filed w-2's. I can see where he could use these people as a medical deduction. What can I do about the rent paid as he said nursing home was too high although in September he did move to a nursing home. TP takes a pile of medicine, gets rehab, help in bathing. Left hand curled tight after stroke and draggs left foot. Question is what about the rent paid before he went to home? Your take on this is?
  7. Ken can you get a link to that. I can't seem to find. Thanks

    DCN NUMBERS

I have not tried this yet. I used to use DCN to track return counts. If this is happening I wonder if IRS will be looking for all the missing numbers in between?

    Billing

I tried to add a couple of adjustments to the forms statement and the bill amount at top of page did not change. IE bill at top of page said 150. I added adjustment minus $10. and plussed in $20. Bill still said $150. I will try something else unless someone else can shed some light. Many thanks

Anyone notice that if you make an adjustment on the forms statement page the bill price at the top does not change. Is this me or is the way the program is acting?
  11. I noticed on Virginia Returns that they are getting a different DCN from the Federal Return. I thought these had to be the same. Question Virginia about this no response. Anyone with a different take on this?
  12. I see that the schedule A is approved for efile. Do we still wait for the Feb 14 date or is atx just going to hold them? Anyone know?
  13. Here are the facts: 2003 stock option-Exchange Existing Shares for Options 2003 option available- [email protected] FMV per share@7/29/05=51.78 Surrendered Cert No.11147 (77 shares (cost 1585.00)) 77 shares x 51.78=$3987.06 3987.06/17.975=221.81(rounded to 222 shares to be issued 222 option shares x 17.975=3990.45 77 cancel shares x 51.78 =3987.06 =Cash due 3.39 In looking at TP 05 return no ISO or Schedule d showing any of this. TP now wants to sell these 222 shares. I think basis is $1585.00 + 3.39 =1588.39. I even checked his W-2 for that year(05)and Wages were not grossed up for the difference. Would you agree with me? Thanks

    941 ETC

This was my first try at efile 941 etc series. It rejected stating that the pin and efin combination was not correct. It also said that if you have a Reporting agent Pin the business did not need one. How do we get one of these? It talks about form 8655 but in looking at that form it appears we have to file one for each business I prepare 94X for and wait till I get it to submitt the return some 10 days later. Can someone shed some light on this situation? many many thanks.

    EFILE FED

Hello all. Question is: if we efile fedw-2,941,etc can also efile the state of Virginia forms VA-6 and the W-2's that go with the VA-6? Thanks
  16. Thanks I just IRS forms to make printer work. Don't have but maybe 50 to do.
  17. I noticed again that these two forms needs to be printed on the RED paper per the instructions. My software allows to print on black and white. Can we print and submit to SS the black printed ones. I notice that the 1096 and the 1099 still have to be printed on the RED ones. Anyone know for certain? :scratch_head:
  18. To those of you who use document manager(not scan and fill) if you purchase DM this year and want to use it next year do you have to renew or buy it again? We are only using it to store documents. I realize it creates a file in atx for the specific client you are working on, does it (dm) have to have current year status to work? I also realize some are using paperport software to scan and save these documents. Can I put this software on a server and have 1 unique place to store all documents regardless of which computer or scanner it came from? I have paperport version 7, do I need to step up Version 12? Thanks to all wh can shed some light on this subject before we get hammered. :scratch_head:

If you prepare 3 corps, 5ptrship, several 1041's as required all entities less than 1 million gross or assets am I required to efile these returns. I do efile about 200 regular returns. How do you notify IRS if you want to efile these returns? Thanks
  21. Anyone buying cartridges for the HP-4050? Where are you finding the best deal on these esp the high yields? Thanks
  22. What is the purpose of document manager without scan-n-fill? How do you use this program and is worth the $? Somehow we managed to get this program but do not have scan-n-fill. Which would be better the asset manager or this program? Can I get by with Max and asset manager? Just some questions I have on how YOU use these programs. Thanks to all who post a response.
