  1. Some 1099s do have that box. Some do not. I have seen that, but wasn't able to readily find a 1099 that had it.
  2. Put a Zero in Box 2A; then page down and look for a box to check at bottom of 1099
  3. I mailed my Frontier bill on March 13. It was due today. Today I received a late payment notice and the check has not cleared my account. Now we have to be afraid of electronic payments and paper payments as well. Where will it stop?
  4. Believe it or not, I had a client come in today and tell me about it. As she was writing the check to go with her voucher, she said, "This is the last check I will be able to write to the IRS!" I was really surprised as we have only known for such a short time.
  5. They can be deposited into a Savings Account. However, I know that I will have several irate clients who simply do not trust the electronic process. I am just so happy when I can talk someone into doing electronic estimates, but they are rare. Isn't retirement looking better all the time; although that is not my desire.
  6. You have to add them together. You can only have one form in the return.
  7. Good Luck with That!!!
  8. I am filing for six minor Grandchildren who were given LT stock sales by their Grandfather. He knows that I am filing the returns and he is going to pay. They get talked into this kind of thing and think they are saving money. Well, I won't do his return if he didn't agree to these Kiddie returns as well. He did some research and agreed that I was correct.
  9. In any case, it is an inherited house; basis is FMV at time of decedents death. Therefore, a capital loss can be taken if sold at a loss. Anyone???
  10. Do you know any preparers who have time?
  11. Apparently he has always done it himself. Maybe the wife's little side gig threw him for a loop.
  12. This morning, after two calls trying to find us, in walks an elderly man with a handful of papers. He wanted us to show him how to fill out his tax return on paper. He had just taken a buyout from a Federal job and is doing a personal return on paper. Not only does he have W2 income, but also a Schedule C and a Schedule SE for his wife who has a small business. (But, she never makes a profit) SE? My assistant made a vague attempt to help him out. He doesn't know how to use a computer so we are wondering where he is going to get the forms. My husband was timing how long he was here. I still can't believe that anyone would think they could walk into a tax office and expect to be shown how to prepare his return. Maybe he thought we were one of the tax offices that are closing.
  13. It's the time you spend biting your tongue while they slowly open all the envelopes. I even hand them my envelope opener. My fuse is getting short.
  14. It bothers me too because I used to always work with a CD in the drive. And, yes, I do still have a CD drive).
  15. Or, you can select "Print to PDF" in the Print Manager.

    1095A question

From what I remember, it was usually someone who had Marketplace for part of the year and "forgot" about it. My experience is that if they were issued a 1095A; the IRS knows it and will reject the return if it is not included.

    1095A question

However, I have had a few reject from efile because the 8962 was not included in the return. The efile system knows who received one and rejects if it is not included in the return.
  18. It gets really trying when you have three or four generations of a family living together and they try to figure the most advantageous way to claim the minor children. They know all about the advantages of CTC; but know nothing about getting a job and supporting themselves. Thankfully, I only have a couple of these and cringe when they come in.
  19. We have an outdoors wood burner; so immediate incineration of all unwanted paperwork from this office. Very little shredding here.
  20. I would guess that someone in a coma would not have expenses that weren't medically necessary.
  21. So where does that leave those of us who passed the test last time and are current with our credits for the designation of AFSP?
  22. That clients would not come in with a pile of unopened envelopes.
  23. Sorry, I guess I only saw K1 and missed the 1120S part. I was thinking Partnership; probably because I am working on one today.
  24. It goes on Line 6 of the 1065 and is included in Total Income.
  25. The entire unreimbursed medical expense goes on the Schedule A.
