NT - Watching This video Will Help Them Spread More Good Deeds
kcjenkins replied to kcjenkins's topic in General Chat
Main reason for sharing is that every person that views it earns them a little more to use for more 'Prank it forward' ideas. This is a real good effort to make the world a better place. I'm glad you liked it as much as I did. -
Squill petals are smaller, those are Iris.
-
Eric, today it will not let me add a jpg image?????
-
Beautiful Iris. Crocus are also very early. For some reason, it will not let me post a pic today, even tho it's a jpg that should be allowed.
-
Great. I find it useful, saves adding a post to just agree, for instance. I know if I get several 'likes' to a post, I can feel good about going with my idea.
-
That would be code 0510, wouldn't it?
-
If you are making changes, any chance you could give us a few more 'likes' per day?

I bet they were not dandelions, but daffodils, which are some of the earliest blooming flowers.

Good luck. 50-50 odds. May say the EIN is not yet in the Master File. May work fine.

Linda said she reported it on Form 4684 income producing property theft deducted on Schedule A. So in my opinion, she should report the offset based on where the original deduction was taken. Which in this case would be line 21.

I understand it won't work for you, on this one, Rich, But Cat's advice is excellent for dealing with vendors who don't want to give their number. 28% is usually a lot more than their actual tax rate. And reminding the client that the backup withholding form is an annual form, so if the recalcitrant ones cough up the # before the end of the year and they can settle up internally and not have to file it if they do, is a good point many clients don't understand.

A good practical work-around. Sometimes we have to be creative rather than let our tools [software, in this case] control us.

NT - FOR ANYONE INTERESTED IN THE PELLETIER CASE
kcjenkins replied to kcjenkins's topic in General Chat
Ease off, Jack, I'm pretty good at defending myself. SCL, there is a thread on this subject in the Politics forum, as I am sure you know. However, I don't think of this subject as so much "political" but rather "humanitarian" and knowing that many don't have time for the Politics forum, right now, I decided to post just this brief update here. BECAUSE I find this latest development horrifying, for both the child and the family, I want ANYONE INTERESTED IN THE PELLETIER CASE to know it. I think it is clearly marked, and clearly labeled, so I don't see any reason except pettiness for you to object. -
Washington, D.C. (April 1, 2014) By Michael Cohn Leaders of the Senate Finance Committee plan to markup long-awaited legislation to extend a long set of expired and soon-to-expire temporary tax breaks. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden, D-Ore., and Ranking Member Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, said Tuesday the committee would markup legislation on the set of provisions, traditionally known as “tax extenders,” that have expired or will expire at the end of this year. The markup of the bill, entitled the Expiring Provisions Improvement Reform and Efficiency (EXPIRE) Act, will take place on Thursday. “This bipartisan extenders package is the product of a Finance Committee that came together to provide needed certainty to the economy, protect jobs and maintain important priorities for working families,” Wyden said in a statement. “With that said, I am determined this will be the last extenders bill on my watch. It’s high time we focus on creating a new, 21st-century tax code, because the status quo is unacceptable.” Wyden recently took over chairmanship of the committee from Max Baucus, who became ambassador to China. The package includes provisions that would benefit individuals, families, and small businesses, incentivize innovative research and development, and promote alternative and renewable energy initiatives, among others. They include the research tax credit, the election to deduct state and local income taxes, along with tax breaks for schoolteachers who buy school supplies and a host of others. “For far too long Washington has acted to extend long-standing tax policy, rarely shining a spotlight on the individual provisions or their impact on the families and businesses that benefit from them. Such dysfunction must come to an end,” said Hatch. “This pared-back bill demonstrates to the American people that Congress can and will make the tough decisions needed to help clean up our broken tax code. It’s imperative to allow the committee to work its will and a markup will provide members with ample opportunity to thoroughly examine these provisions.” Separately, House Ways and Means Committee chairman Dave Camp, R-Mich., announced Tuesday that his committee would hold a hearing next Tuesday, April 8, on the expired business tax provisions in the tax reform draft proposal he released in February. “One major goal of tax reform is to provide stable, predictable rules for businesses so that they can grow, create jobs, and increase wages,” he said in a statement. “Congress must end the practice of short-term tax policy, extending important business tax provisions for one or two years at a time makes it very difficult for employers to plan and adds immense confusion and complexity for taxpayers. The long-standing tax provisions that help businesses grow the economy and create jobs should be made permanent once and for all.” The Chairman’s Mark can be found here. http://www.finance.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/Chairman's%20Mark%20-%20EXPIRE%20Act.pdf A summary can be found here. http://www.finance.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/040114%20Summaries%20of%20Provisions%20in%20Chairmans%20Mark1.pdf

Yes, just assume Acquisition is "Various" and classify the small gains and losses as "Long Term" and be done with it.

Prior to Judge Johnston's permanent custody ruling, Lou and Linda Pelletier were allowed an hour a week with their daughter. Now MDCF has forbidden the family any physical contact with their daughter.

If you send them as black on white paper, from your laser printer, they may not like it but they will process them.
-
Yes it does unless you add a space between the b and the following ) And c turns into ©, the copyright symbol.

The best way to start Spring, for sure.
-
I'd put it on Line 21 because the theft was deducted on the A.
-
If you know the % you can work backwards to estimate the amount.

Time for the donate button, anyone?

OK, that's an 'option', not yet a sale. Not income until the sale goes through. Still your client's residence until the sale goes through.

Just a guess, but sounds like he sold a half interest to a 'friend' who is now sharing the house. Girlfriend maybe? Seems to be no ta effect now, but OTOH I could argue differently if he actually divided the house into two separate units.
