  1. That is the upside to a storm; we'd have warning and would fill our large basement set tubs with water. When the pump died, it did so quietly. We continued with laundry and dishwashing and such until the holding tank and the hot water heater ran dry and surprised us. Thanks so much for the good wishes.
  2. Thanks, Catherine. We used up all our Y2K water jugs to brush our teeth, wash our hair, take sponge baths, etc. I feel clean but soapy; it's hard to rinse without splashing the whole room! Tomorrow morning I'll go down to Curves early to shower before an appointment with my internist at 9 a.m. Supposedly, the pump man will install a new well pump tomorrow. He did come out last night, and the old pump was definitely fried. He leaves for Martha's Vineyard tomorrow, but is sending his brother who works with him to us ASAP. We filled buckets and jugs from a neighbor's hose to tide us over for another day. Just drove the three of us down to our church to use the bathrooms to save our newly filled tanks for overnight. Usually when we're without water, it's because we're without power. So, I'm really thankful we have electricity and air conditioning and friends.
  3. Well, I obviously used box & line numbers from 2007 forms where I was looking to see how I entered the SIMPLE and HI on this return last year. 2008 has things in different places, but you know what I mean...
  4. Yes, I posted this on two different boards. I can't find where some nice, smart person helped me last year. I have only one of these and struggle with it every year. Probably doesn't help that this is only my second year on current software. I searched on SIMPLE and other words to try to find past discussions with no luck. LLC taxed as a partnership, husband and wife 50/50 partners. Husband is not active and took some distributions. Wife is very active, took guaranteed payments, family health insurance premiums, and SIMPLE max plus matching. I think I add health insurance to guaranteed payments in most places in the return EXCEPT for Schedule M-1 where line 3 is GP (other than health insurance). Right? And, on her K-1, I should have line 13 L health insurance and 13 Q SIMPLE. Right? If you happen to know how all this works in ProSystem fx, I will love you forever. Last year everything came out right with only one override and balanced. This year, I discovered why I needed the 2007 override and did that item "correctly" on 2008 but am having trouble with the M-1 flowing as mentioned above. And, I'm out of balance by about the amount of the health insurance! Wouldn't it be nice if all my clients used the same type of retirement plan so I could master its reporting?! It's late and our water stopped several hours ago and I need a shower before I can face this client. Thanks for any direction re this partnership return.
  5. A very to our birthdaymeister. We also intend you to have many more!
  6. And, an early very to your "present" also!
  7. Thank you very much. In return, I'll share http://taxsites.com/
  8. Before I'd rely on the IRS, I'd check with a group you belong to such as NAEA or NATP. Especially if you have a local chapter so already know which preparers might have similar clients. Jainen's suggestion to see a tax preparer is a good one. You need to find someone who you can sit with face-to-face or talk on the telephone or chat/IM in real time who prepares returns for civilian employees of the military overseas, in and out of war zones. They might mentor you for free, but even if you pay them for their time and oversight you'll get value for your money on your own return and develop a new niche for business. Start with who hired your husband; ask if he's heard where employees get their returns prepared. Have your husband talk to his new co-workers to ask the same question. Also, look for courses, probably online or pre-recorded, on the topic. Do searches on other message boards. Good luck to your husband and to you.
  9. Hey, Jainen, Sara is one of us trying to learn about a new-to-her tax situation because it's her husband's/her own now. She is reading and listening and knows she "needs to go see a tax preparer." That's shy she's posting here. She could use some guidance from someone who's familiar with civilian employees for our military in Iraq. (I'm not that person, but someone/some people on this board probably are.) If you could help her focus her reading and if our experts in this situation would jump in, Sara will develop a new area of knowledge helpful not only to her but to her clients as well.
  10. mail2web.com is a site that's supposed to let you access you e-mail account with any provider on their web site. Just an interim suggestion to let you get into your mail account to see if you need to adjust settings.
  11. But, you have to agree that it WOULD work!
  12. The client called you from her sick bed, right? So, you're calling the auditor to meet her at her office, right? With only the info requested in the letters. Your answers are yes, no, and I'll contact my client when she's feeling better and get back to you. You'll hand over items as she asks for each one. Good luck.
  13. Don't use Hotmail, but maybe uninstall and then redownload Hotmail. (Something in your file is missing or not going to the right place.) Good luck.
  14. Gee, and I usually check Snopes first. But, I was more concerned with the attitude of the piece than whether or not it came from the proposed source. Guess I'll have to keep looking for a candidate.
  15. Well, he has a few things I disagree with, some rather severely. But, I like his general attitude of taking care of USA first. If we can't be strong and financially healthy and united, then we won't be very efficient at taking care of the rest of the world, anyway! Let's fix this country first. I might vote for him.
