Changed address with post office and had mail forwarded to new temporary address. All IRS correspondence was forwarded (Notice that had part of refund held for state tax debt), but refund check never arrived. Finally today (2 months after prior notice was received) she received notice (forwarded to new address) that refund check was not deliverable (sent to old address) and was returned to IRS. I no longer trust ordinary First Class Mail. Any documents I send go priority mail with tracking. Ironic isn't it? She told me that they were supposed to send them back to IRS but if she knew the person she went ahead and forwarded them. Terry O Posted February 11, 2013 Report Share Posted February 11, 2013 After 10 years of apparently having the wrong address (193 Main St vs ACTUAL 195 Main St) a client called because he received a letter from the IRS his refund was undeliverable! The mail carrier just automatically put it in my clients mailbox for 10 years - - nobody ever caught the mistake, until a new carrier came along. He refused to give it to the client. I understand that I made a mistake - -I understand that nobody ever caught it. What the client who is mentally challenged did NOT understand - -where was his money!!!! Lesson learned.
