heading to Vegas tomorrow and my son is dying to shoot automatic guns, machine guns. etc. I was wondering, since the range on the strip is so expensive, if anyone had a recommendation for an off the strip range. We both are experienced shooters with semi's and rifles so we just want to shoot what's not allowed in NY or NJ where we usually shoot.

You just made my "man crush" list. I would love to go out to the desert and blow off a weeks salary in ammo. I did not know they grew rednecks in NY? You learn something new every day.

Try looking up an outfit called Frontsite. I think they are outside of Vegas. I don't know there fees but I get tons of e-mail from them.

Yes; Frontsight. they seem to have some really interesting classes but all I recall is that they're farther out west than I am willing to drive...

We went to the "The Range" and fired off a Tommy Gun, MP5, SAW, and even launched some fake grenades.

Driving the Lambo, Jag and Ferrari's in the desert was fun too...

If your looking to save money? Not in LV, Baby. The price is high.... But fun!

we did the exact same things, also at "the Range 702". to tell the truth firing semi's is more fun than the auto's but had to try them. RED NECK -moi? Just a "real American" here in liberal NY.

for all of you anti shooters, my last client told me a scary story. woke up to noises outside his basement, went downstairs [while wife called 911] and saw a hand through the little glass window reaching for the lock. He racked his 12 gauge and shouted "I have a shotgun" the guy split but got caught a block away. three teenagers who broke into 3-4 houses during the past couple of weeks. Lucky guy that he was prepared to defend his wife and little kid.

Hey, Michael, did you find a place? Feedback requested, my sons would like to know what you found, as they may be in Vegas on business soon.

Cabbie who happened to live right by me before he went to vegas, told me they are basically the same. and while the ones further from the strip are cheaper, the cost of cabs in vegas are outrageous. We just went to the one right near where we drove the lambo's and Ferrari's. good experience and no problems with my son only being 15.

One of the clubs here in MA runs an annual "machine gun shoot" as a fundraiser. We went a number of years ago; you bought ammo for the gun you wanted to try and got to fire those rounds. Pricey (and this was well before the cost of ammo skyrocketed a few years ago) but tons of fun. They had Gatling guns and Tommy guns and all kinds of historic military firearms. The "targets" were some outer-shell-only old cars and other vehicles bought from a junkyard for the purpose. My personal favorite part was flummoxing my instructor by being able, first time, to do 2 and 3 round bursts. Not common for "girls" apparently.

COULDN'T find the video KC referred to, would love a link. what style did you train in? I train in jui jitsu and petkiti tersia? I have a junior Olympiad in tai kwon do here and someone else an international competitor in some weird karate style. During tax season I keep a kick shield and other stuff in the office so we can blow off some steam.

I was able to do 3 round bursts consistently but not too often 2. I liked the ak47 and the saw best. pretty cool firing a belt fed auto.

We also saw Jeff Dunham at the Colosseum at Ceasars Palace, and he jumped off the Stratosphere tower... It was a Man Weekend. Which hotel did you stay at? We were at the Hard Rock.

Saw this on Facebook and thought it has a great message...worth the read and definitely the share!

A little girl had been shopping with her Mom in Wal-Mart. She must have been 6 years old, this beautiful red haired, freckle faced image of innocence.

It was pouring outside. The kind of rain that gushes over the top of rain gutters, so much in a hurry to hit the earth it has no time to flow down the spout.. We all stood there, under the awning, just inside the door of the Wal-Mart.
We waited, some patiently, others irritated because nature messed up their hurried day.

I am always mesmerized by rainfall. I got lost in the sound and sight of the heavens washing away the dirt and dust of the world. Memories of running, splashing so carefree as a child came pouring in as a welcome reprieve from the worries of my day.

Her little voice was so sweet as it broke the hypnotic trance we were all caught in, 'Mom let's run through the rain,' she said.

'What?' Mom asked.

'Let's run through the rain!' She repeated.

'No, honey. We'll wait until it slows down a bit,' Mom replied.

This young child waited a minute and repeated: 'Mom, let's run through the rain..'

'We'll get soaked if we do,' Mom said.

'No, we won't, Mom. That's not what you said this morning,' the young girl said as she tugged at her Mom's arm.

'This morning? When did I say we could run through the rain and not get wet?'

'Don't you remember? When you were talking to Daddy about his cancer, you said, ' If God can get us through this, He can get us through anything! ' '

The entire crowd stopped dead silent.. I swear you couldn't hear anything but the rain.. We all stood silently. No one left. Mom paused and thought for a moment about what she would say.

Now some would laugh it off and scold her for being silly. Some might even ignore what was said. But this was a moment of affirmation in a young child's life. A time when innocent trust can be nurtured so that it will bloom into faith.

'Honey, you are absolutely right. Let's run through the rain. If GOD let's us get wet, well maybe we just need washing,' Mom said.

Then off they ran. We all stood watching, smiling and laughing as they darted past the cars and yes, through the puddles. They got soaked.

They were followed by a few who screamed and laughed like children all the way to their cars. And yes, I did. I ran. I got wet. I needed washing.

Circumstances or people can take away your material possessions, they can take away your money, and they can take away your health. But no one can ever take away your precious memories...So, don't forget to make time and take the opportunities to make memories every day.

I HOPE YOU STILL TAKE THE TIME TO RUN THROUGH THE RAIN.

If you've read this all and it's touched you... share it.
