rwalter
Does anyone knows what's wrong when the older programs are not saving your client files when you put them in the program. I am reconstructing some older files for a client and the my 2004 and 2005 tax programs are saving the files when I go back into the program. mcb39
Are you trying to run them on WIN 7 or WIN XP? Probably not compatible with 7.
Lee B
There have been numerous posts about users running ATX back to 2001 on Win
Jack from Ohio
There have been numerous posts about users running ATX back to 2001 on Win 7 Only back to 2005 successfully. A few possibilities of 2004 working on Win 7. 2003 or earlier will NOT work on Win 7. Are the programs stand alone or networked to a server? Randall
When I get a new computer, I only put the previous year ATX on the new computer for rollover purposes. I keep my old computer with the older ATX years in case I need to use that program.
DevM
I have successfully reinstalled 2003 and imported the files from backup on Server 2008 / Win7
Kea
I have 1999 - 2009 ATX (2010 - 2012 other tax software) successfully runing on my old Win 7 Home PC. So far I've only installed 2012 - 2013 ATX on my new Win 7 Pro PC. I'll install other prior years later as I get around to them. I did have to put the older programs in XP compatiblity mode. Most computer users have no idea what that is or how to use it. It does NOT ALWAYS work. At the firm, I have one XP machine with 2004 and prior programs on it. It is part of the network and was only used for one return this past tax season. Too much messing around with the old programs on the new machines.
Randall
I agree Jack. I rarely have to go back and do an old return. And I don't take new clients who aren't current with filing except maybe one year back.
joanmcq
I've still got my old computer with the older files on it, but rarely have to go beyond 2008 anymore which is where my new Win7 computer ran well.
mcb39
I have 2010 through 2013 on new computer and have had to use all of those. Like Joan; all others are on old XP and completely and safely backed up in several places. That complete hard drive can be restored at any given time. Also, have install disks for all years and exported files on some type of external drive.
