Lion EA
Help. I've gone blank and just had a call from a broker of one of my clients. Are the long term capital gain rates inside a trust/1041 the same as for individuals/1040? 15%? (At a biz client's site, but had a voice mail. Would like to respond, but can't look it up right now or even shift my brain away from biz books!)
rfassett
For trusts, the capital gains rate is 20% for the 39.6% tax bracket, 15% for the 25, 28, and 33% tax bracket and zero % for the 15% bracket - according to the USMTG 2016 - paper version.

Catherine
I had a similar question (trusts and capital gains) just two days ago but was able to delay answering 'til I got into my office. Whew!
Abby Normal
The rates are the same but the brackets are much smaller so the tax will be higher on a 1041 than a 1040.
