Bookkeeping Software

We are planning to change software soon for our bookkeeping/payroll functions. We had been using Peachtree 2000, and Quickbooks when we had to, but Peachtree 2000 is not like current Peachtree programs at all and it is no longer supported. It hasn't been for several years now, and that is getting to be a problem.

We are looking at DP Solomon. Does anyone have any experience with this program, or any other recommendations to make?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Gail, I've been using Howell Client Writeup for 15+ years for writeup clients. It's a VERY easy program to use, reasonably priced and excellent customer support. Mention my name as a referral - see www.howellsoftware.com . They have a demo of the writeup program as well as stand-alone fixed asset manager, payroll and bank reconciliation. Their writeup program includes an after-the-fact payroll function which includes all quarterly/year end reports, W2, W3, 1099 and 1096.

Along with the 2008 tax software from ATX, I received a demo disk for their client write-up package. I installed it and it looks to be just as good as what I've been using (Accountants Relief) and cheaper. The price for the write-up only portion was $ 420, and they discounted it when I called the sales desk.

I don't do a lot of write-up, so I'm looking for cheap, quick, SSARS-compliant reports. I entered one client's data and so far, so good. Don't have a set of financials yet, because I couldn't figure how to get them, but trial balance looked OK. I'm supposed to be taking the webinar Monday.
